The Pigtail Legend : 100 word story

A old dusty typewriter I bought at a yard sale had a half page letter titled 'Pigtail Legend: 1976 USA Olympic Team.' An injured weight lifter discovered Wilma needed no assistance lifting him in and out of his hospital bed, or giving him a sponge bath. He contacted his Olympic coach and soon she was on the women's weight lifting team. People marveled as she neared weight lifting records. Her coach did not like her pigtails, so Wilma cut them off. After that she could not lift a wet noodle, which made a lot of the male weight lifters cry.

I have a couple of pigtails lying around if Wilma needs 'em......REALLY!!! they used to fly out and get me stuck in cardoors or dogs would grab 'em, so *WHACK*...off they went!!! now I do it every year or so...how many does Wilma need,lol???

Nicely juxtaposed with the traditional legend. Your fingers must have tingled when you found a story waiting between the keys. Did you imagine the writer? What they were doing? Why the person wrote the story?

I burst out in laughter as soon as I saw this!! Hilarious. I wondered why I couldn't lift anymore. And to think I just had my hair cut AGAIN last week! It's going to take even longer to grow out those pigtails. Guess I may have to consult with some of the people up above who have offered me some new ones!!

Do you have Schwan's delivery trucks where you live? They deliver various frozen food items - meat, ice cream, etc. Anyway, it's 10 PM and the Schwan's man is across the street delivering something. Very strange to be doing it that late at night, it would seem to me.

I had never read Lawrence U.
Adelaide, SA, Australia before, but because he made a comment I reciprocated and read two poems he wrote. This man writes superb elegant poems of love. I highly recommend you read his poetry.

I have debated on sending someone to add extensions to Wilma's hair. They can weave some new pigtails into her short do she has now. Then she can go back to lifting and heaving on the people.

then there is always the question of weather she let them cut off her pigtails on purpose. Maybe just maybe she was just plain tired and ready to take it easy. If all it took to take away my burdens I would cut my hair shorter thAn anyone.

Bill, I have to tell you how pervasive your presence is here on Gather. Last night, Sheila H called me for the first time. She was chatting away and there was this sudden loud outburst of barking. Apparently she has a house full of humongous dogs. She kept saying, "I hope William doesn't hear about this." Now, how on earth, would he hear about it?

She would try to talk and these apparently large dogs would be all over her, so she would let them out briefly in the sub zero weather, then they would be back in again. She said at least 3 times, "I hope William doesn't hear about this."

So don't tell him.

Wilma, I used to have house parties twice a year when I lived in Japan and usually 30 - 50 people would attend, which was amazing because we lived on a mountain an hour outside of Osaka & Kobe. House parties are extremely rare in Japan. I've always had the ability to bring people together, but I've never tried or wanted to be the center of attention. However, at my parties I almost always played and sang two songs: Wild Thing and I Want To Be Your Dog. I imagine Sheila sings these songs at home daily.
