My Grandmother made the best Sugar cookies ever! I loved her sugar cookies. She has been dead now for nearly 30 years and I can still remember the smell in the kitchen when she baked. She was one of those exceptional cooks. She only knew the country way of cooking. She raised a large family of 15 kids so she had to cook.
I have never enjoyed sugar cookies since she died. However, this recipe may have just changed my mind. These are easy enough for the kids to make. I used semi sweets instead of the baking chocolate.
Chocolate Sugar Cookies
1/4 c. butter or margarine
1 cup sugar
1 cup flour
1 tsp. baking powder
1 tsp. vanilla
2 squares baking chocolate; melted
powdered sugar
Beat together butter and sugar. Add eggs. Stir in flour and baking
powder. Mix well. Stir in vanilla and chocolate. Put in Fridge for about 1/2 hour then Roll into small balls & coat with powdered sugar. Bake at 350 for 8 to 10 minutes.
This recipe will make about 2 to 3 dozen of the best sugar cookies you have ever eaten (except my Grandma's).

Hmm... I've never done chocolate sugar cookies. I'm sort of surprised that I've never done that. Of course, when I make cookies, I usually do try to keep them pup-friendly (no chocolate, no raisins, not a bunch of spices), so that may be why.
