It is 7 p.m. Friday and I am IRKED. That is not quite the word I had in mind... but it will do, since I don't want to have to flag this for language.
2 weeks ago I handed in 2 assignments to my history prof. I am taking 2 distance courses - both from the same professor. Now the next 2 assignments are due.
It irks me to have to hand in 2 more assignments without getting any feedback at all from the first ones - if there is something I am doing that she does not like, now I will no doubt have done it...whatever it is.... again. I am going to be incredibly irked if I lose marks for stOOpid stuff.
I am also incredibly irked that she has not bothered to answer either of my emails.
I emailed her last Friday, using her university email address.
No response.
So on Wednesday this week, I happened to notice that on the 'meet your professor' page in one of the two packages, a different email address was given - so I emailed THAT address too.
No response.
It is not like it was a complicated email. I asked 2 questions.
- how concerned should I be about memorizing dates and names?
- how are assignments & feedback returned?
I pay MORE for these courses than for in class courses in which I get 3 hours of lectures, personal contact from the prof, and responses to my emails.
We are now in week 5 of the course and I have heard NOT ONE FLIPPING WORD from this person. NOT ONE.
I think that, on Monday, I will go and find the office that manages the distance learning courses, and go in and ask what the process is supposed to be re: contact with the prof (knowing full well that she says in her packages to email her 'anytime' - I guess it is safe to say to email her any time since SHE CAN'T BE BOTHERED TO RESPOND TO EMAILS).
I will also ask what the complaints process is.
Have I mentioned that I am IRKED?
I am seriously IRKED!

I would NEVER ignore a student's email. I am paid to respond to them...and I teach in person ... where they CAN ask me stuff in person. I don't have that luxury with her.
Seriously, you are upset for good reason, and I definitely think you have grounds for complaint. Good luck... When I was in school a few years back, I had an instructor just like that. I just dropped the course, even though it was required, with the intention of taking it during the summer session when she didn't teach. But then I quit school instead... I still remember her well, though.
I just feel like I'm just throwing things into a black hole... no idea if she gets them or ...... whatever...

just concerned about her health & wellbeing!
Finished assignment for Women's history ... now onto Child & Family
If you're having problems, don't hesitate to contact your course supervisor - it may save you time & frustration
HMPH! Or it may CAUSE you some! :(
Subject: Are you getting my email?
or
Subject: No response from you on my questions.
Those should be able to get through unless your host is being blacklisted.
Remember, you can educate your self. It's just the cretification that you need a professor for. The professor just makes it easier. :-)
Let us know how or if you get anywhere with this. Maybe you coud write to planet feed back where you write about your complaint and they post it is you want it posted and then they contact the provider that is not doing their job.
Blessings

On occasion, my initial answer has been "I will let you know the answer to that when....." but I respond. And I follow up.
5 weeks without a single solitairy contact is totally unacceptable.
She says in her materials that she is going to use the online course delivery system as well .... there is ABSOLUTELY nothing in those either. ONE announcement to let us know she's out there would be good at this point.
would be nice if she had included the ^(&%&&)! notes!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!
Maybe the professor has vanished into the Twilight Zone.
Can't you use your professor powers to meet this person?
Hang in there, Baby!
