These are the words of a remarkable song that my father played over and over in our house. It was always uplifting. Whenever he played it, we would all pause in our activities and listen. Just listen, All quarrels would be forgotten and everyone would smile.
Now, years later, I've found a re-mastered copy of that same song. It's sung with such a captivating concern and an undercurrent of joy that whenever I hear the opening bars, my troubles begin to fly out of the window.
The following words are not mine. They are the words of the song call A Little Love and Understanding and sung by the legendary Gilbert Becaud. The music matches the mood of the song perfectly and the very first note already takes you to another world in an instant.
You simply cannot listen to this song and remain unmoved. Try it. Go to the Internet. Listen to it and change your life. *smile*
You're on your own
And what you need's
A little love and understanding,
A little warmth to tell your soul
A gentle bird that softly sings,
Each night my voice happens to sneak
Through your transistor radio, ho-ho-ho
I'm just a secret you can keep
And no one ever needs to know
You're in that city far away
I'm on the ship way out at sea
You got some problems you can't face
So leave them behind, any place
For out of sight is out of mind
And in time, and in time, and in time, and in time, and in time
You'll find peace of mind
Ho-kay, Ho-kay (okay), good, good
You're room is like a desert isle
You often filled with silent tears, hmm-hmm-hmm
So grab your coat, put on a smile
Go out and buy yourself some cheer,
Why sit there thinking of the past
Recounting empty days gone by,
When you should make each moment last
It isn't hard to do, just try
Drink to the city far away
To all the sailors way out sea
All those problems you can't face
So leave them behind, any place
For out of sight is out of mind
And in time, and in time, and in time, and in time, and in time
It'll sort itself out
Ho-kay, Ho-kay (okay), good
You're in a crowd
Or in a villa
Or on a boat out on the sea
Sometimes I see you're all alone
And sometimes I see your tears
But your thoughts are your accomplice
For they allow me to arrive at your side
I bring you love and friendship
I'll reach you where you are
In a park or in your office
Or as you walk along the shore
Put your worries out for me to see
Put them down side by side
Let's hold them to the light
And let them go, let them go
Have no regrets it's all in the past
When you're alone and need a little love
I'll sing to you
For the sun is now there
Feel its joy and warmth
I'll sing to you of love
About friendship and tenderness
I'll show you the sky
Warmed by the sun
Come take your coat
Let's go to life...to life
Let's live it...with love
And just a little understanding.

Hugs in a plenty & may God bless you - S.
thank you
Oh Liz, this man was great. As Alexandra says ( later on ) he was known as Mr. 100 000 volts. So it was the words + the lyrics + the man. I know that you sense that.
I must try and locate this song on the internet..
He sang beautifully and he had a million dollar stage presence. Judging by some clips that I've seen he was pure magnetism.
He worked closely together with Charles Aznavour and Neil Diamond. I think that says a lot. They were also superstars.
If I can load this song here I'll do it. I don't know how to do that tyet.
I'm so glad that your heavy work schedule didn't prevent you coming here.
I know you well enough to know what this song means to you.
I'll join you in your prayers dear. *hugs* *blessings*
Very inspirational, Fred.
