There's so much going on this weekend I'll hardly be able to catch my breath, but what a wonderful way to get winded. It all starts tomorrow morning at the all-day seminar "A World of Fiction Writing" - http://www.washwriter.org/special.html - jointly sponsored by American University's MFA Program in Creative Writing and Washington Independent Writers. The Keynote speaker is Susan Richards Shreve, professor of English at George Mason University and author of 13 novels and the recent memoir "Warm Springs." The Plenary speaker, Mary Kay Zuravleff, was just awarded a 2008 Artist Fellowship from the D.C. Commission on the Arts and Humanities.
Panels will include "Writers' Blogs, A New Literary Genre," "Fiction Under Forty," and the cutely titled, "If Rodney Dangerfield Were an Author . . ." on which I will join other authors in explaining why genre writing doesn't get the respect it deserves and what we can do about it. Oh, and Pulitzer Prize winning novelist Edward P. Jones will be interviewed as well. The seminar takes place in the Battelle Building of American University, 4400 Massachusetts Avenue, NW Washington, DC.
I'll rush out of there to get to Borders Books & Music on The Boulevard at The Capital Shopping Mall, where I'll sign my novels from 5:00 pm to 7:00 pm. The store is at 931 Capital Centre Blvd Ste A, Largo, MD. Come find me, mention you saw this on line and get a special gift!

We agree that your teenage daughter takes precedence over anything I'm doing, but there will be other chances and I'll try to remember to put them out here.
thanks for commenting and nice to "see" you.
