After tonight's new episode of LOST, more and more questions are starting to arise. The main question is still not answered...why are the "rescuers" really there? Who are they? What are they going to do?
One thing is now for sure...they are not there mainly to rescue the survivors from the Oceanic flight 815 crash. We know they are really there for Ben Linus, the head of the "others". But why? Why was Miles, one of the "rescuers", so upset when he found out Juliette was one of the "natives"? Here's my take on why they are really there.
First let's start with the 4 people who were in the chopper, who are now on the island. Watching their flashbacks, we see that they all found out about the Oceanic crash being "found" in the bottom of the ocean with no survivors. But they all knew it was not true. How? Well, they all seemed to have a link to the Dharma Initiative. I believe they were all part of the original Dharma group who were involve on the island, but were sent back to the "real world" to work for the group. Whether it be research, recruitment, or transportation to and from the island.
Charlotte found the polar bear and the Dharma collar and knew exactly what it was. She seemed very happy to see it actually. Frank was supposed to be flying that flight and knew it really didn't go down in the ocean. I think he was there to fly planes across oceans while looking for the island. Dan was crying when he saw the fake news on TV, but I think it was tears of happiness because he then knew the Dharma Initiative was still alive. And finally Miles, I believe he was one of the "special children" of the island like Walt was. He was able to talk to the dead and they taught him to understand and learn how to use it. Naomi was part of a team of specialists who dealt with military and re-con.
Back to Ben...why do they want him? Well, if these people were part of the original Dharma Initiative, they know Ben joined the natives of the island and killed all of their people. He then blocked all transmissions and tracking ability to and from the island. So these Dharma people could never find the island again. Now that Charlie has freed up the signal, they have found the island. They knew where to be in the general vicinity because of the signal that went out real quick when the hatch blew up. Remember the signal that they detected in Antarctica that one time way back when?
I believe they are really there to kill Ben and all the other "natives", aka the "others". They were all fine with Jack's group until they found out who Juliette was. Seems they now want to kill her, but not the others in the group. After all, Naomi made it sound as though it was a war mission. And the other head guy refereed to the people as "they", just as he did when he asked Hurley if "they were still alive."
And as far as Ben's "man on the boat", how else do you think he got all that info on those people. He has informants everywhere. His man is undercover as an original Dharma person.
Only time will tell...the story changes week to week after all. Hopefully the writers will get back to work soon so we are not left hanging in the middle of the season!

I'm not sure who the dead kid Miles was talking to was, but it looks like maybe he was a drug pusher for Miles.
