WARNING - Link HEAVY
I am a 'hoarder' of links.
I am a virtual internet pack rat. I don't think I ever delete a link. I have links that I know I haven't visited in ages, between home and work, but I realized I have a TON of diabetes related links that I visit regularly, so I thought I'd share some of the information I've collected over the years for those of you who may be newly diabetic, or just searching for information.
If you have links to share, please post them here.
One Touch Gold is my meter of choice. Their site has lots of great information, including a free, downloadable book each month. I have one of their Ultra Smart meters, but I have TWO of the Ultra Minis. I keep one in my desk at work and one in my purse so I always have a meter on hand. I rarely use the Ultra Smart anymore. I'm lazy, what can I say?
Diabetes.com is a site maintained by GlaxoSmithKline that is full of information for those of you newly diagnosed who need a little help in understanding some of what you're going through.
The American Diabetes Association has more information than you can imagine including a Recipe A Day section, a Tip of the Day section and a Diabetes Dictionary to help you figure out some of the words being thrown at you from all directions. I visit this site at least once a week. The Diabetes PHD feature is a GREAT way to figure out where you need to make changes to get yourself and your body back in control.
The Diabetes Digest always has some interesting reading and this link takes you to their online newsletter.
Do you take Avandia, Avandamet or Avandaryl? This is their website.
What about Byetta?
Do you wear a medical ID bracelet for ANY reason? Do you HATE those generic ones you get in the pharmacy?
I also like this site for medical alert jewelry.
This site even has medical tags for your shoes! Great gift idea for runners, hikers, bikers, etc. They also have food allergy T-shirts.
They have two tags that I would just LOVE to have, but the "gift fairy" hasn't delivered them yet. These are the two I covet.
BTW, I absolutely LOVE getting new bracelets to go with my tag as birthday gifts. ;)
Reli-On has some great products for diabetics.
Have you been told you need to keep a journal of what you eat or limit your intake of one thing or another? This is a GREAT site to keep up with what you're eating every day. It is based on the food pyramid, and does most of the calculations for you. I use this site every day.
Here's a link with great information for keeping your heart healthy.
The 7 Principles of Good Diabetic Care.
Do you own a Breeze or Contour monitor? Here's the Bayer site with lots of great information.
This is a good company for ordering supplies online. They even accept PayPal.
I know if you're newly diagnosed you've googled diabetes and have been overwhelmed by the amount of information out there.
Hope this helps narrow it down some and helps you find answers to questions.

Thank you so much for bringing it into focus.
I don't intend on following in their footsteps.
