There are a couple articles published today about Netwinner and their new changes. If you haven't seen it yet, they have done away with their gift card options and replaced them with sweepstakes chances instead. Every day they are giving away a 100,000 point prize to one winner and a $500 Ecount card that cost 1500 points per entry each. Options also include an Ipod Touch, a trip to Vegas, a Wii, a MAC laptop, and $5000 cash with tickets costing varying numbers of points each and lasting for varying lengths of time. The 25.00 Ecount card is still available for 25,000 points, so you're not losing that.
At first glance it seems like a bad thing, and I was pretty disappointed to hear of the changes, until I went to look. While it's true that you no longer have the option to order 25.00 gift cards when you cash out, you do still have the option to save your points and cash out for the Ecount card, which I would think most people opt for anyway. This new sweepstakes thing may seem bad and like they've taken something away at first look, but really, if you think about it, it just may be a better deal. Before, you had to save your points to get to 25,000 before you could be eligible for anything at all. Now, you have the option to enter for a drawing every time you get 1500 points, and you could win a lot more than 25.00. Of course, you may lose.. and most likely will since only one can win each drawing.. and if you cash in your points for prize tickets, you won't be able to accumulate enough points to ever reach the 25,000 points needed to get a guaranteed 25.00 on the Ecount card, but then again, YOU COULD WIN.. and 100,000 points or $500 would be really sweet.. better than 25.00 for sure. So, I guess you just have to weigh your options and ask yourself.. do you feel lucky?

I don't play/participate at ANY sites that only provide chances at things, so I'll drop them like a hot potato if they drop the eCount choice. I'm only willing to use a site that gives me a guaranteed pay off.
It is an unmitigated bad idea. But there will be suckers for it, and Netwinner is depending on that. Netwinner is going to be the big winner here.
I don't think the sweepstakes will be something I do very often, if ever. It's just safer to keep putting the points onto my ecount card.
