Tainted pet food makers about to get bitten!

They should be held accountable.

Wow. They surely need to pay.

I like that they are acutally facing criminal charges for this. What they did was highly illegal. The same kind of method could have been used to transport narcotics, you know?

Okay dumb question about these indictments. Are they extraditable? Do we have the authority to go over to China and gather these CEOs up and bring them back to the US for jail time? Otherwise, it's this nice little slap on the wrists that our government can say, "See, we did all we can do." It really is an empty gesture if it amounts to nothing real.

That's good news, but talk about not the whole story. I hope I don't sound incredibly paranoid, but something tells me we there's something else here, as well.

Last weekend I opened a new bag of Iams cat food that I had just bought at Walmart. After eating some of the food, 2 of my cats got real sick from gastroenteritis. I took one of them to the vet and the bill was $385. Since both cats were fine before they ate the food, the vet said their illness might have been caused by a bad batch of food. I contacted Iams about it. They told me to send 2 cups of the food to them for testing, which I did. They also sent me a check for $30 to refund the costs of the cat and dog food I had bought that one day and for the postage to send in a sample. They seemed very cooperative and said they would let me know the results of the testing (if they will be truthful with me). However, if the illness was caused by the cat food, I am still out a $385 vet bill. If the food didn't cause it, then I have no idea what suddenly made 2 previously healthy cats sick in a matter of hours. The cats are better now.

That's scary stuff, Janet. When I think about it, I put more trust in pet food manufacturers than most things. Good luck with your situation. I'm glad your cats are ok.

They deserve to be prosecuted!!! Someone's negligence killed animals. WHo's to say next time it won't be a mistake that kills people. Either way an innocent life is an innocent life and the people who took it shouldn't get off free. They need to compensate the people who suffered loss of their pets!
