What If? #1

For the next 31 days, I'm going to post one "What If" question on gather. Feel to answer it and leave your answers in the form of a comment. Some of these questions will be historical in nature, some based on morality, and some just for thought.

What if the internet was never invented/formed/developed?

I'm not going to post mine on the comments instead I'll do mine here. I would be a little bit more quiet. Chances are that I wouldn't even have come out to anyone. There are some many people that I've come in contact that have helped in one way or another. Not to mention the fun that I've had, the opportunities to share my writings, and my photos.

If there were no internet, I wouldn't be the person I am today, either. I had no problem learning things the old way from books or even TV. But the internet allowed me to explore myself and learn who I was by gaining contact with others who are like me. It's allowed me to discover I might be able to write. It's helped me make money. It keeps me in contact with people. It occupies my time. Now that I have it, after holding off so long in the first place; going the past 6 years being connected to the world, I wouldn't want to be without it now.

I would have missed out on lots of opportunities in the publishing market and would have spent much more on postage.

Goodness, if the Internet had never been invented, I never would have met my future husband in 1992 on "Prodigy", I never would have had my four beautiful children, and I'd probably have some other family, some other life. I'm not sure I would have pursued my publishing dreams. I wouldn't be as close as I am to my family and friends, because I hate to talk on the phone.

I think my life would be VASTLY different if the Internet had never come to be.

I'd never be able to conduct the research that I do. I'd 'know' less people. I'd have a lot more trouble living alone. I'd talk less to friends around the world. I'd never get folks birthday and christmas presents on time.
