"How do you feel about Mitt Romney?" a Republican friend asked me the other day. "I don't trust him", I said. "Why?" she wanted to know. Here is what I told her.
If you look at his position on various issues, it has changed drastically over the last few years depending upon who he was trying to impress and what he was trying to achieve. He is the king of flip-flops. Here is a link that supplies you with the variances:
Do you remember the movie, "Wall Street" with Michael Douglas back in the 80's? Well, Romney was into the same line of work --buying up companies and then dismantling them, destroying jobs, and then selling them off. In Romney's business, he utilized shell companies in two offshore tax havens to help eligible investors avoid paying U.S. taxes, according to federal and state records. So, those are some of the reasons that I don't trust Romney. Do I think that the other candidates are above reproach? No. There are no perfect candidates out there. But I'd trust Barack Obama or Hillary Clinton over Romney any day.
