I think I'll fantasize on circumstantial needs
Then make my favorite sandwich so I can dream
And look upon the mountains I had left behind
As formative features align and stepping stones remind
Taking bits and pieces to glue with parsed thin air
For nothing stands between us but trees left so bare
As if the leaves were wind blown and I could not catch
Even one to sit and chat and tell me of emptiness
The spinning top thinks forever in its parade
And whirls with such elegance with a glimpse of fate
So soon setting benchmarks that veer to a new course
As buffeting winds of cares and woes leave trails of remorse
Images pass me by and rapidly release
In changes of might said I fading out of reach
And there I was drifting before taking a bite
As if touchstones forgotten were delivered with a sigh
We like an element on periodic chart
Sift out the inconsistencies left in our heart
And from slaked impurities gold and silver find
In happy and sad remembrances together we mined
Shall I daydream this day away with memory
Or finally eat my sandwich and let the sails be
Saved for morning coffee mists to plan rendezvous
And accept the ever changing winds under sky so blue

Thanks for contributing on my first Writing Essentials day :)
What is your favorite sandwich, that inspired this?
The saddest words of tongue and pen...
Go and eat your sand-wish then
Go back to dreaming that
Which might or could have been
Happy Valentines Day and you have a terrific day!!
I also liked the fact that at first reading....I found bits and pieces of myself in YOUR poem...that is always a wonderment to me....like a greatest hit song that relates personally to so many people....
okay Ill shut up now
I love the idea of you catching a falling leaf to have a chat with. That raises images in my own mind. Wow.
When I write, I honestly don't know what I'm going to say. I sit and watch to see what my fingers are doing. They're connected to my heart and not my head.
Except when I'm signing checks. Then they're connected to my pocket.
wonderful piece of poetry and the fact that it nagged you untill you typed it make me smile...
sandwich and dreams ...I wish you both in plenty :-)
