I am watching a 60 minutes interview tonight which is new to me, but a replay of the Prophet Gordon Hinckley from several years ago. Normally, this would not be something that I would watch, but lately, one of my most wonderful Gather connections, Connie C. has inspired me to learn more as she herself is living the Mormon Lifestyle.
I think that the world would be a kinder and more tolerant place if we all took time to learn about different faiths and lifestyles before making up our minds about something. There are so many misconceptions about everything that it is important to learn for ourselves.
So, I won't learn everything from this interview, but I do see it as a place to start and a chance to be a better person because of what I have learned. Not to mention that although it is looking unlikely at this point, we technically could have a United States President in 2008 that practices this faith and lifestyle. If for no other reason than that alone, I would want to learn and understand.
Thanks Connie for making me yet again a better, more intelligent, and less ignorant person. You are such an inspiration.

I totally agree!
I have to say I am proud of you for taking the time to learn about another faith :)
You brought tears to my eyes again. :) You are such a wonderful, kind and compassionate person. I am glad you took the time to view the interview. It has been said that we are a cult but I know we are not. It has made such a difference in my life. I found peace in my heart and the true desire to thrive to become a better person. I have a long way to go but I am trying to do better each day. I have a quote that I try to live by:
"I want to live my life so each day when I awake, satan will say "Oh No She Is Awake".
I know I am not nearly there yet and will never be but I am trying.
Thank you for saying such nice things about me. I am very humbled.
we revere him as a Prophet, but as I spoke in church today we love him most becouse he pointed continually to the Saviour, he was a lamp post as it were helping to show us the way to our Lord... he simply never was about getting accolades and yet he received them becouse of his simple and yet profound kindness and positive prospective on life.
come here and let Karen know that I too am a member of The
Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-Day Saints. My life has been so
enriched from joining this Church. I have a deep love for our God
and Savior Jesus the Christ. Our Prophet President Gordon Bitner
Hinckley was a great messenger from our Lord. He taught us how
to live our lives according to Gospel Principals, which I strive to do
each day. Connie has been helping me along since I joined Gather I
do appreciate her help and her prayers. She is a great Sister that
stands beside you at all times. Thank you Connie.
President Gordon B. Hinckley. I learned so much about this man
and all the things he accomplished while here on this earth. If I
could only be able to to learn as much in my time as he did in his
I would consider myself the richest woman on this earth. I have
a problem remembering things I have read but sometimes certain
incidents cling to my heart and stay there. Oh my, 'tis late I must
retire now. Goodnight y'all
This is very, very true. Gordon B. Hinkley will be sorely missed.
