This is the Hibiscus, the State Flower of Hawaii. It grows wild, and on hedges all over the island.

All of these photos were taken simply walking around the island, photographing the wild flowers throughout the island. I wish I knew the names of all these gorgeous flowers! I didn't get a photograph of the plumeria, which is the flower they make the flower leis out of (the necklaces they put around you after you land).

Even the plants have an exotic feel to them, with colors other than green breaking out and making an appearance.

I haven't a clue what this fruit is - but it was growing wild throughout the Hana highway.

Especially this one, which is some kind of flowering in a tree - I couldn't get closer, and I didn't have a good enough zoom lens to do this plant justice.
I hope these flowers brighten up your day during these winter doldrums!
