Nope, with surf like that there was no way I was going to stroll the beach. When it's looking like that and it's Saturday to boot, the only place to be in Newport is Ochre Point. So I headed up the hill to the Cliff Walk and made a beeline for Newport's version of Surf City!
Today was gorgeous, as you can probably tell from the pictures. Bright sunshine, warm temps (it got almost up to 50º today), bit of a breeze. The photos look a lot colder than it really was, at least on land. The water's a bit chilly, hence the wet suits. But it wasn't as cold as the wind blowing the spray off the crests of the waves makes it look. Heck, I darn near got a sunburn sitting on the wall and shooting the surfing action! Anyhow, here's the gang doing what sunny Saturdays on the seacoast were made for.

Yup, there's more than just exotic ducks to Winter in Newport!

Angela, I'm not sure which thing you're looking at. The white stuff in the lower left front is foam from the wave in front of him breaking. The small dark object in the water in a straight line from his right shoulder is a piece of seaweed. The waters around here are full of it.
Love the colors you captured. Wish I was there to see what you saw.
These are awesome!
