Hi Gather Friends! Question For You!

The only way I know to keep up with an article is to bookmark it. Wish there were an easier way to sort through the comments we make.

I just go back to the comments I have made. I wish there was an easier way.

That's all I do. Unless you remember who wrote it and go to their profile.

Shannon and Renda have the only two ways I know. Ask Kevin on his daily article. If there's another way, he will know.

The only way to keep track of articles you commented on and then forgot is to occasionally page through all your comments. I always find an article I wanted to go back to but didn't think to bookmark.

Well you can keep track of it through your comments or just keep it open on one tab and go comment on some others on another tab and just come back to the article and refresh.

This is a great question and I think many would like an easier way to follow a certain tread they have commented on..

I believe bookmarking it temporarily is the only way I have tried to subscribe but that didn't work.

what I've done is leave a comment and then go to my content and find the comment I made to be able to check back on the article and see other comments. If there is an easier way I don't know it.

Good question, there should be some sort of way to track an article on Gather.

That is one GREAT QUESTION that Gather is completely overlooking the value of ... it is so frustrating for those of us who care about our continuing communications with each other on the threads.

GATHER ... WAKE UP and CORRECT this DEFICIENCY !!!!!

What I have been doing is keeping a paper trail beside my computer ... there I place on the Left side a brief "Identifier" of the article author (as short a name as works) ...

Then next to that the first couple words of the article title ...

Then following that I begin with "my" first comment to that thread with the comment number "circled" ...


After that I routinely keep track of "Comments by me" (sometimes with 3 tabs open) to compare the comment number totals to see IF they have advanced beyond my own entry ... if they have, I then add the latest total number next to my last entry on paper as I read the latest ... I always then have the most recent read comment on my paper trail to compare with the PC screens latest ... always writing down the last number and circling of it if from me.

It is very time consuming and clumsy but works for me ... and I sure would be open for a BETTER WAY ... it could be so easy for Gather to devise such for us IF they REALLY CARED ... IMnsHO.

Gather will be implementing (this year hopefully) a threaded commenting system. This will allow for members to reply directly to your comment, on any content, and you will be notified when that comment is posted (in the same way you are notified today when someone posts a comment on your content).

Until then however, I have found a way to receive notification of any activity on any content on Gather. It works beautifully and saves me a LOT of time, because I only go back to content threads that actually have some activity after I comment.

I get notified immediately, and you have many notification options available to you.

There is an option under 'email preferences' which allows you to receive an email when someone comments on your content. If you have this option selected and you are STILL not getting notifications let me know, as there are a few things that may be preventing you from receiving them.

I always take the time to thank those who left comments on my writes. I simply go to my comments to see if there was a follow up on a comment I left on others writes.

There is no easy way YET,,, I get lost too,,, I comment on so many and forget where they were,,, I have question Gather before and no response,,, I realize this is a free system but,,, so many good people and good writing, hard to keep up,,,

Thanks Juan! I can't wait until this is figured out. I used to stop by a site and comment and my email would tell me that the "article you are watching has been commented on." Then, that way you had the choice to go back and see what was being said. This way, you could stay informed and comment more if you wish. I loved that. I would love to see something like this on Gather. I get behind, and people at times, get upset. We are all busy trying to support our families, and it sure would benefit us if we had this feature.

I love Gather, but I would love to see this feature.

I leave the e-mail in the inbox until I'm done with the article....if it's a comment on something that wasn't in my mailbox, I search through the comments.

I just go through comments I've already made...

Frequently, unless I ask a question, I don't go back to articles at all. Sometimes, though, if the discussion is really fascinating, I'll actually open up a new window just to go back to it repeatedly and continue with the discussion.

Nope. Not that I know of.

I try to remember what I commented on. Generally if the topic was noteworthy I will have no trouble remembering it. Unfortunately because I have dial-up and little time, I cannot invest as much time in that task as I would like to,
