Tonight I gave in and cashed out my many points for 2 $50 Home Depot gc's. I reached 3,000 points by the end of October and have been waiting patiently since then, hoping the Gather folks would make the offer for me to start earning the cash option. I even e-mailed them twice and got no response. It is the first truly negative thing I have to say about Gather. But, they have been very good about sending me the previous gift certificates I've requested, and continue to run a fun and successful site that keeps me coming back for more. I cannot say the same about many other surf-to-earn websites I have tried (or am currently using).
In scanning the list of available redemption offers, I lean towards Home Depot because there's always something we need around the house. We plan to use these latest gift certs to buy one of those sturdy benches that has a storage area under the seat. We'll put it out where the kids play, and they can toss their outdoor toys in there when they're ready to come inside. We also need to fill in the two big holes the dog has dug out there.
But other than Home Depot, I have trouble finding Gather gift certs that are relevant to my lifestyle. For instance, today I see that my other viable options include Macy's or Borders Books. The nearest Macy's is almost an hour away, and I'm not a big fan of department stores. The clothes are way too expensive and are just not "me". But it occurs to me that while overpriced, I could buy bathroom towels, socks for the whole family, and other practical things. As for Borders, I very rarely actually purchase books. I tend to use the library often, and shopping the twice-yearly library clean-out sale keeps me busy! I can buy a bag of books for about a dollar.
If I had a choice, I would love to earn Wal-Mart gift certs, McDonald's or other restaurants, Target, Lane Bryant, Payless ShoeSource and so on. Gas cards would be great too!
What would your top 5 picks for gift certs be? Are you satisfied with the current offerings, or would you prefer something that applies more to your needs? Mind you, I'm not knocking "free" stuff, but if I'm going to do any amount of work to earn something, I do want it to be worthwhile.

5. Borders.
Haha. I'm a book fiend so it works perfectly for me. I'd also be equally as happy with Target or Walmart or the like.
I've mostly gotten Borders cards, they have lots of hard to find dvds and dvd sets and their coffee is good too!
I once went in there with over $200 of gift cards at once. You should have seen the looks I got from that huge stack LOL!

I am on the cash option, but if I were still on the gift cards I would wish for:
1) Target Gift Cards
2) Amazon gift certificates
3) JC Penney gift cards
4) Home Depot Cards
5) Borders Cards
Anyway, what kind of gift cards would I like best? Well, NOT Wal-mart. I haven't shopped there in over 5 years and don't have any plans to ever again.
Target would be nice. Kmart. Prepaid Visa or Mastercard. Amazon.
For now, I'm not sure what I'm going to choose. I have enough for $100 too, but none of the choices are exciting.
I have cashed in about $125 or $150 so far. I have another $50. to cash in. I have used the book store. I would like to see more of a variety here. Like, bed, bath, and beyond. I could find lots of things to get there.
Enjoy your gift certificate sugar.
