It's been a long day on the road, but a fairly easy one nonetheless. I got a second wind after a cup of high test jet fuel in Virginia so cancelled our reservation in Fredericksburg and drove about six more hours. About an hour ago we checked into a hotel in Lumberton, NC. I love these places.
"Are there sheets in the room to make up the sofa bed?"
"Oh, yeah," chomp, chomp, chomp on the gum desk clerk girl says.
Ten minutes later we stand back at the same desk asking for sheets to make up the sofa bed.
"Could we have a pillow case sans blood stains" This was trip #2 to the desk.
"That's gross!" Chomp, chomp, chomp.
No kidding. That's why we want a different one.
My son is now sacked out on the sofa bed. My friend bid us goodnight a few minutes ago and warned us that her husband says she snores. She does. And now I'm catching up on the day's e-mails (233 of them) and getting ready to call hubby at home and tell him that nutty, overly caffeinated wife is in North Carolina instead of Virginia.
It's 622 miles to Fort Myers. I'm not sure if I'll drive straight through tomorrow or not. I usually stay two nights on the road. That will be for group contemplation in the AM...probably while we enjoy the free hot breakfast included with the room. Can't wait to see what they serve!
