This little girl was found abandoned in a parking garage stairwell in Toronto. She's estimated to be about 8 months old... surveillance video tape shows a green car pulling up, and someone getting out and just leaving her there.... she was found a couple of hours later.

According to the news reports I heard on the radio, there is evidence that she had been hurt before being left.

Sometimes people suck :(

Some states here in the US have places where a child can be left without penalty to the parent to keep things like this from happening. I don't know if there is a way for the parent to reclaim once given up but the child is who is important and his/her safety and well-being is the point, not the hapless, uncertain parent. I wish churches still had means to take in foundlings and children deserted by the adults in their lives.

Exactly ..... it's bluddy COLD out there.... she WAS wearing a snowsuit .... otherwise she probably would be in much worse shape

Thank goodness she was abandoned where she could be found and taken care of. I hope they never find the parents and that she is adopted soon.

What a beautiful little one. At least whoever left her didn't leave her out in the weather or in a place where she wouldn't be found. Hopefully now she's on her way to a much better life. I bet the offers to adopt are pouring in for her.

This is so horrible. I can't even fathom what is in the mind of a person who does such a thing. It makes me cry...and I would take her into my home in a heartbeat. My heart breaks for children such as this.

This is so sad. When I worked at McDonald's headquarters in Oakbrook, IL we used to get reports of adults abandoning their kids in the Playland too. While the kid was playing the adult would drive off leaving them for the McDonald's manager on duty to find and call the authorities.

What a beautiful little baby! I hate that someone did that to her, I wish they had taken her to an emergency room but if they hurt her they were probably afraid of being jailed. Maybe by leaving her they did her a favor and gave her a chance at a real home with love and all the other good stuff that is supposed to be childhood.

This might sound harsh, but I hope the saying "You will reap what you sow" comes to those who chose to abandon a defenseless child.

I sort of disagree with Juan, though. It it extremely difficult to BE a parent. I know what he means, though, because it IS too easy to become a parent. Good observastion, Juan!

That's too sad. As far as I know most emergency rooms will take babies, no questions asked. I wonder why some people don't take advantage of this if they don't want their children.

We might not understand how someone could abandon a child but it's much better to abandon a child then to kill it.

That is awful. Here they made it a law that you can leave babies (I think up to a few days old) at a hospital, fire station, or police station.

For the life of me, I cannot fathom how anyone could leave a baby alone anywhere, let alone outside in the cold. There are many sick people out there I guess, and we keep having it proved over and over again. There used to be days when the institionalized mentally ill people, now they are free to do harm to themselves,and have children, and ultimately someday harm them, so sad Flit
