Ina on My Mind

I just checked in after watching a two hour LOST marathon and my local news to find a horrifying comment from Ina on one of my articles.

I left this on my thread, but I wanted to make sure you saw it.

I was at my daughter's for my birthday dinner tonight. She served me vomitous bilge. Really. I thought about you all evening.

I'm sure I have to write about this. I have no pictures, alas.

I'll have to use vomitous bilge in the article and tags.

I've got to admit that the first thing I did was laugh out loud. Yes, LOL. Then I felt bad. No one should be served vomitous bilge. Especially for their birthday dinner. It's just wrong.

I am calling for a moment of silence for our beloved Ina. And I'm leaving you with a link to a truly funny site.

I'd give $10 to have seen Ina's face when the food was presented. Probably not that "surprised" look she does for pictures, but pretty close to it.

I'm fairly sure my mother said similar things about my cooking. If she ever tasted it--I'm not even sure if I can recall any such occasion. The general rule is if she's there, she cooks. And you know what? It's fine by me.

Why is John kicking me out? I was pretty quiet.

Kevin just called me and we were laughing ourselves silly over the whole mess of last night. I have to go write about it.

I've left comments here twice already, but my internet keeps cutting out. I'm sure it's from the high winds we had for about 36 hours.

I've been lucky. I haven't had vomitous bilge except that cooked by in-laws and I don't eat there any more. There was also some of the stuff my grandmother cooked, but she's dead. And my grandmother Jeannie, who never had delusions about her cooking, hasn't cooked in decades.

Once in a while I still turn out a vomitous bilge disaster, and it invariably involves a recipe that calls for cream of ______ soup. I've have gotten very wary of any recipe that uses that as an ingredient. It looks pre-digested, at best.

Oh, Andrea -- that site was absolutely hilarious! I actually have one of those cookbooks; that might explain my nonexistent cooking skills. Can't thank you enough for the laughs from that link.
I'll have to go and check that out.
