Barium Esophagram

I had this test yesterday. To be honest it really didn't taste all that terrible, as for calling it a milkshake..lol..I won't go that far!

I got to the Radiologist's office about quarter to 9 in the morning, I didn't eat in the morning before as instructed. I walked into the room and I see the tech making 3 bottles up and pouring some crystals in a cup. I quickly tell her there is no way I am going to drink all that!

The dr comes in and tells me to stand in front of this standing up table(looks like frankenstein). I get "in" it, then he starts telling me to hold this with this hand, stand like this , use the other hand..I am like ...what!! I am not coordinated anymore. I ask him to repeat the directions slowly!!

He hands me the crystals and tells me to put them in the back of my mouth without swallowing, then he hands me a cup of water in the other hand....my mouth now feels and if I dumped a box of pop rocks in it...I am told no burping , must hold it in.............yeah right.

He takes a few pictures and then he tells me he is putting the table down...with me still standing in front of it. What....no way..I tell him..I am getting off and then I will get back on the regular way...I would slide right off this thing...plus I would probably wet my pants on the way down.

Now I am ticking him off...sorry.  He tells me to put one arm to my side , put the other arm over my head, do not burp, still hold it in. He hands me the cup and tells me to drink..how!!

He decides I need a higher pillow, so he folds it over..it kept flying out my under my head. I couldn't hold it, I had to try and hold the drink while still having a arm over my head , the other arm to the side....that was it...I went hysterical laughing...now I know for sure I am on the dodo list!

I look at the screen and the other thing he would tell me was about the hiatial hernia..duh..I know that one..  I want the other info!!

On the way out the tech tells me that I could get a little stopped up and drink alot of fluids!!

That was my experience yesterday.....they probably never want me in that office again!
