A trip to Myakka River State Park

Over the weekend we decided to take a trip to Myakka River State Park

Even though Myakka state park is not too very far from us we had never been there.

It was a beautiful sunny day to be outdoors!

We hiked on some trails, went on the canopy walk, and saw lots of different birds and gators...

Here are a few photos from our park trip:

these next few I took with my video camera. Altho I am able to zoom in real close with the vid cam it also doesn't take as good quality of photos.
These gators were fairly far away from us tho, and I was able to zoom in to get the shot.

and one more gator, swimming away from us.

Wow, thank you for sharing these great photos Amanda. It looks like a great place to visit. My boys cousin from England is coming to visit on Sunday, and I think we have to go out to the Everglades to find an alligator or two:)

What a great photo essay, great photo's Amanda!
Gotta love the gator's.

But one question "No feeding or molesting alligators allowed" who's gonna molest a gator? A gator will bite the heck outta you -if you annoy it ;-)

Lyla~ I didn't get close to them at all, I just used the zoom to zoom in as far as I could... I was on a dock and he was about 20ft out in the grass, by the waters edge. So I was safe.
The other photos where there are several gators and birds, they were atleast probably well over 100ft away and I used the zoom on my video camera, it has a really great zoom on it!

Alligators really scare me--not sure I'd want to walk around where they might be :-( The canopy walk looked neat!

Wow Amanda, thoroughly enjoyed this photo essay.....great pictures. Looks like all had a great and fun time too. BTW, I have been reading and studing about alligators the last two days and how the United States has tougher laws against killing them- they are fascinating creatures!
