Good Morning Gather or Audrey's Crazy Coffee Club

Hi everyone.  Monday morning is here and I know a lot of you are groaning about going to work.  I used to be one of you until I figured out that work gave me the means to survive, to save for the future, to have daily contact with some good people, and to stay active.  I realize this more since I have retired.  Had it not been for work, I could not enjoy my retirement and those who know me know I like to enjoy myself.'

It is already in the 40s this morning here in Iowa, headed to upper 50s.  That should take away a lot of our snow.  Rain is possible today, but the real sticker is the strong winds, 20-30 mph with gusts over 40 mph.  It won't seem as warm as the temperatures say it is.

I will be singing with the Heartbeats choir over the noon hour, then this afternoon will meet my GF at the mall to walk our 3 miles and then enjoy some tea.

I have a little time to visit this morning.  Why don't you come on in and sit a spell.  Let's chat over our morning coffee.

mine are not either my mom and gram think that arthrittis has gotten to my wrist cuse i broke it real bad when i was about 3 years old and now if it gets cold i can not use it sad thing is i am right handed and its my right wrist lol

Missy, kolaches are a wonderful sweet roll with a depression in the center filled with a fruit filling. I love apricot ones, and also the prune. Prune is much better than it sounds. There is also a yummy cream cheese filling.

Missy, in a word it takes practice. It is a Bohemian treat but took me a long time to get the hang of making them. Cherry are also good.

Hi Sadie, just dropped in. I'm down in the Tampa Bay area where it will hopefully get into the 70's today. And, Yes, we have a lot of "snow birds" visiting us nowadays.

Right now, I'm on my second cup of coffee (black) and second cigar.

Today since there is still raining in Northern California, I will be working with some sculptures for my garden. I know after all the rain, everything is going to look great until summer, when everything dies here in the Mojave desert.

I was out both week=end days enjoying the beautiful sunshine. You can see my pictures on my images, I know it was cold Saturday but it was fun watching the water fights anyway. Sunday I walked to the river and it was above freezing. I am accustomed to the colder temps.

Well, like wine coffee has its own characteristics. If the coffee was strong means that it is one of the best. Strong coffee is bold, maybe a little bit bitter, but it leaves a little nutty flavor. Not wonder Starbucks coffee buys a lot coffee from Guatemala.

CC, do you have cold cereal on hand? I eat mine without milk or dry so I always have that to fall back on. Usually keep a box of toaster tarts too, and if I have bread on hand when I leave I freeze it. Still makes good toast.

My daughter is in Shawnee KS and I talked to her this week=end. She saidd the same thing. It was -28 windchill on Thursday here and today is supposed to get to 58.

Sadie, I hope that they don't lose them! I got up in the middle of the night and worked quite a bit, and then all this morning, and still nothing. I reported it, but maybe you should too! That way they will know that it is a problem, and not coming from only one nut, I mean person!

Michael R. that's the 10,000 dollar question. Why it is raining so much? 7 straight days in some areas. Like Sadie mention the mud and water will create some problems for the people living in the burned areas. Maybe AlGore is right the climate is changing in from of our faces and we still not reacting. For instance a dear friend from Guatemala send me a picture of the Santa Maria Volcano totally covered in snow. This is the first time in the history that this happened. It never snows in that area.

My first time to reply, but I love reading your site in the mornings. All that good looking food. Sure wish I could vist Shooters in Ft. Lauderdale today for the buffet and the sun. It was around 20' when we got up this a.m. at 6:30 here in Wake Forest, NC. We are still very dry here and praying for rain. Could someone do a little rain dance for us? Have a great day. Bob, enjoy the outdoors. I love to walk when the weather is nice out. Of course some think I'm crazy to walk when it is cold. I find a short walk on a cold day invigorates me.

Sadie, I am not retire. I am only 45 and still active. I still have a full time job, I paint full time, I write poetry every day. Full time father and husband and with the free time I have a go to school. I would like to have a master degree in arts if I can. The funny thing is that students in the college think that I am a faculty member.

I've been very concerned about the bizarro weather; did you guys see the movie "Day after Tomorrow"?? I mean, just the other day there was some strange weather in Santa Barbara, Arkansas, New York, Canada - and somewhere in Africa there was snowfall, and even Iran got some I think. It gave me a chill to see, because I thought of that movie.
