Caroline Kennedy Schlossberg Endorses Senator Barack Obama

Wasn't it a sweet win in SC for Barack? And a endorsement from Caroline Kennedy to boot. Not a bad day for Barack at all!

It is a very powerful statement -- it is not just an endorsement. Can anyone accuse HER of being sexist?

I think not.

Nalita, Barack did a good job in SC bringing his message to the people, he met with the teacher, policeman, the small business owner etc in the area and explained to them face to face why they should vote for them. The Clintons I feel relayed on the black clergy to deliver the votes to them on a silver platter instead of going out to the people more. Barack won 80% of the African American vote, because he learned from Chicago the Reverands aren't the power brokers that media portay them as. In matter of fact I feel if the Clintons don't quit relaying on the endorsements of clery men and don't get thier message to the everyday African American that live and work in the community, the Clintons stand to lose 80% of the African American vote around the country.

What are you thoughts on this?

I do enjoy her statement very much. Endorsements don't sway my vote, but I love to see someone agree on many of the same things. I've been feeling under the weather so I took a very long nap today but was very pleased to wake up and find that Obama won the South Carolina primary. I would have liked to see Edwards do better. Can't wait to see Super Tuesday's results.

The Clintons are making a lot of mistakes, Brian.
I have already voted, so from my vantage point, I'm done really. To speak frankly I was very delighted with Hillary until she and all of those Congresspeople voted for that idiotic war resolution.

At least John Edwards was big enough to admit his vote was a mistake. Hillary, however apparently walks on water and owes no one any accounting for sending Americans over to a war that should have never been authorized and never been waged. THAT vote -- by the way -- I shall tell it now, cost Hillary MY vote, and I suspect shall cost her the vote of others as well.

I do not vote for those whose lack of vision and leadership send people to death, deaths in wars that should have never been in the first place and these people do not seem to realize they are not accountable for this -- NO! That is NOT leadership; it is weakness.

As far as using church leaders and Black leaders to hand them "the vote" you must understand that these politicians would also come to my own mother for support. They would ask her to be the same "leader" to get the people to rally around them, so I do understand the game. She refused to play the game with these politicians, NOW do you think that I shall fall STUPID to it??? I am my own person and I think for myself.

Politics-as-usual, and business-as-usual is OVER.

Senator Obama is calling for a mandate of CHANGE and enough people have finally awakened and heard it.

I only hope it is not too late.

If Hillary does not wake up herself and CHANGE, she is going to lose, which by the way, would be the best thing for this country.

I haven't seen a picture of Caroline in a long time - she's as beautiful as her mother was and kind of softer around the edges.

She said what I've said from the beginning, Obama reminds me of John Kennedy. He has the same charisma, clear thinking, compassion and vision that her father had.

You can't keep doing the same old thing and expect different results. Nope, that's how we got here in the first place.

Time for a turn around and I think Obama is the one who can do that.

I consider Caroline's endorsement an honor! Those of us who still remember where they were when her father was assassinated should, at the very least, be respectful of this endorsement!

I also find it interesting that a figure that is more likely to pull the heartstrings and get the attention of some of the older generations is endorsing him because he speaks to the younger generation....I know that I didn't say that well, but I hope that you get the idea!

I guess I'm just not in love with the Kennedys who are still around. An dwhat has Caroline done on her own merit? She shouldn't be famous and influential because of who her father was. She's also the niece of Teddy Kennedy. Nuff said.

Lera, it won't make any difference to us, but it is a profound statement of go ahead for any liberals on the fence, and also solidifies and validates the decisions of others who would have voted for him without it.

Lady Narita - I agree with your comments about the Clintons. How I used to love and admire them. I'm incredibly unhappy with the way they are managing their campaign.

It looks alot like the early Clinton campaigns, only this time Obama is the upstart outsider and Clinton is the one out to destroy him.

I think this endorsement is huge. I am a former democrat turned conservative and a Romney supporter. But I can't help getting caught up with the Obama movement. The inspiration! Democrats who are behind Obama are kind, respectful and positive! It gets very addictive. He impresses me. His supporters are very impressive and have class that republicans could not attack..

Just showing some support for your article, I'm somebody who isnt sure who to vote for yet. Its hard enough to step out like that and endorse someone. The more people that step out and say who they support it gives you a chnace to learn why.

I do not believe that Teddy's endorsement shall have the same punch as Caroline's though, for Caroline is a female, and Caroline's record is spotless. I have always identified with Caroline; not that I am as intellectually brilliant as she, for the Lady is Superbad in the BRAINS department, but her personality is laid back and sort of goofy; I love it. Plus, she reflects the breeding that Jackie tried so hard to instill in her children. Jackie said she never wanted her children to grow up to be "spoiled rich children" and it appears she succeeded in that accomplishment.

In defense of Hillary though, Cat, I do believe that Gates made contributions to both Hillary and Obama; Gates is quite the diplomate, isn't he, but covering both bases. Please correct me if I am wrong on that.

Hillary took me out of everything for a while; I mean she really broke my spirit for a time. I COULD NOT BELIEVE she would EVER vote for the Resolution. It was the last straw for me, after 9/11. Then when Senator Obama came into the forefront I was almost afraid to believe his message was real, and that he was real; I watched him VERY closely for a time. I was not going to be fooled again like Hillary has tricked me.
But he IS real. He is no Wizard of Oz with smoke and mirrors behind a curtain. It is as Caroline stated in the article above:

Caroline is a lawyer and author and mother of 3 children. She has accomplished a lot in her life through her own efforts.

Nalita thank you. I agree as a republican that I am drawn to Obama. My brother works on his campaign in Minnesota. But nothing I read or anything I heard would ever change me. It is him. He is different than a politician. That means a lot.

Hello Bruce! Caroline is pretty awesome to me. I personally admire the quiet way she leads her life and the way she has carried on -- yes. Again, I like the idea that Senator Obama has led me to a place of UNITY and meeting people that I would have never otherwise met, or even wanted to meet, with his "improbable journey and possibilities" -- for Pete's sakes, he has caused me to change my beliefs about things I thought I never would and that alone is good enough for me. For example, the openness to the Republican agenda. Because Senator Obama is so open to reaching across the aisle, HECK, then so am I.

While I am for Hillary Clinton. I have to say that I'm impressed. Caroline Kennedy is no slouch. She doesn't endorse candidates that easily. And, Ted Kennedy is the larger plum. He will definitely sway some people. Obama has that inspirational talk down pat, I've got to hand it to him.

Why does Obama complain that the Clintons are about the pastt and he is all about the future, when he keeps tying himself to Jack Kennedy? I see no resemblence except in speech making skills. Jack Kenendy served his country and was a war hero. He came from a political family and trained for the role of president his whole life. Obama has no military experience, very little political experience and nothing but lots of promises for change. I heard his Colorado speech on the need for affordable health care for all. Wait! wasn't that Clinton's big idea in his first tme? Oh, and didn't Hillary Clinton take the heat for trying to put together a plan that would serve every American? Once again, Obama talks big changes and refers to the future and then hangs on the past accomplishment of others, because he has none of his own.

Linda, whenever a person says "none" or "nothing" it is likely an exaggeration. Did you know that Obama has been in elected office longer than Hilary Clinton? I do agree that Senator Clinton has had obtained some valuable experience in the 9 years she has been in the US Senate and her experience with working on a health care plan should be valuable as well.

What are his accomplishments in public office? I have read the record and except for some small things on the state level I have seen nothing. Has he introduced new legislation that matchesh is big ideas for change? Has he worked within the Senate of committee that have brought about change? Has he campaigned for change within the Senate? Give me some substance, I can at least see that Clinton got beat up trying to make healthcare available to all. That experience is vaulable, I have also seen her work on behalf of New York and it is impressive in her short tenure. I also believe that she used her role as first lady to fight for women's right and support families issues. I do not mean like Mrs. GWB promoting reading because she was a librarian. I mean Sen. Clinton lobbied legislators, toured the country pressuring state leaders and worked within the federal governemen structure to affect change. If anyone can show me that Obama has done this I have an open mind.

Linda, that is an absolutely fair question and I am glad you asked. Like you, I am concerned more with getting the best president than touting the record of any particular person. I have been for Obama for quite awhile and think he is the leader we need. I do agree that Clinton has worked very hard and very successfully for issues that I feel are of utmost importance.
