The only daughter of President John F. Kennedy believes that Senator Barack Obama can inspire Americans like her father once did. Caroline Kennedy Schlossberg cites her reasons:
"I have never had a president who inspired me the way people tell me that my father inspired them, but for the first time, I believe I have found the man who could be that president - not just for me, but for a new generation of Americans."
[Obama] "has a special ability to get us to believe in ourselves, to tie that belief to our highest ideals and imagine that together we can do great things."
Carolina Kennedy Schlossberg believes that Obama is the candidate to invigorate a younger generation that is "hopeless, defeated and disengaged."
She believes Senator Barack Obama is he "who appeals to the hopes of those who still believe in the American Dream, and those around the world who still believe in the American ideal; and who can lift our spirits, and make us believe again that our country needs every one of us to get involved."

It is a very powerful statement -- it is not just an endorsement. Can anyone accuse HER of being sexist?
I think not.
What are you thoughts on this?
I have already voted, so from my vantage point, I'm done really. To speak frankly I was very delighted with Hillary until she and all of those Congresspeople voted for that idiotic war resolution.
At least John Edwards was big enough to admit his vote was a mistake. Hillary, however apparently walks on water and owes no one any accounting for sending Americans over to a war that should have never been authorized and never been waged. THAT vote -- by the way -- I shall tell it now, cost Hillary MY vote, and I suspect shall cost her the vote of others as well.
I do not vote for those whose lack of vision and leadership send people to death, deaths in wars that should have never been in the first place and these people do not seem to realize they are not accountable for this -- NO! That is NOT leadership; it is weakness.
As far as using church leaders and Black leaders to hand them "the vote" you must understand that these politicians would also come to my own mother for support. They would ask her to be the same "leader" to get the people to rally around them, so I do understand the game. She refused to play the game with these politicians, NOW do you think that I shall fall STUPID to it??? I am my own person and I think for myself.
Politics-as-usual, and business-as-usual is OVER.
Senator Obama is calling for a mandate of CHANGE and enough people have finally awakened and heard it.
I only hope it is not too late.
If Hillary does not wake up herself and CHANGE, she is going to lose, which by the way, would be the best thing for this country.
I hope you are feeling better. I had not even planned to comment, just put the article up, but when Brian asked for my thoughts I felt obliged to respond to him.
Thank you for your thoughts Crystal. Sorry to hear you have been under the weather.
these people do not seem to realize they are accountable for this -- NO! That is NOT leadership; it is weakness.
She said what I've said from the beginning, Obama reminds me of John Kennedy. He has the same charisma, clear thinking, compassion and vision that her father had.
You can't keep doing the same old thing and expect different results. Nope, that's how we got here in the first place.
Time for a turn around and I think Obama is the one who can do that.
I also find it interesting that a figure that is more likely to pull the heartstrings and get the attention of some of the older generations is endorsing him because he speaks to the younger generation....I know that I didn't say that well, but I hope that you get the idea!
I guess I'm just not in love with the Kennedys who are still around. An dwhat has Caroline done on her own merit? She shouldn't be famous and influential because of who her father was. She's also the niece of Teddy Kennedy. Nuff said.
It looks alot like the early Clinton campaigns, only this time Obama is the upstart outsider and Clinton is the one out to destroy him.
Bill Gates hasn't endorsed anyone, but he's donated to Obama.

Your saying that -- and especially knowing how you feel about Democrats in general -- means more to me than you shall ever know. (((((hugs)))).
I want to come through the computer and hug you.
I promise you were Senator Obama near you right now that he would take you by one hand and give you a hug with the other. I can envision this in my mind, for I have seen him do it many, many times.
Do not forget Jeff, that there are many, many Republicans WORKING ARDUOUSLY in the Obama camp, not because they are traitors to the Republican Party, but more than being Republicans, they are Patriots
to the United States of America
and to the Republic
for which it stands
One nation
Under God,
Indivisible
With Liberty
And Justice
For All
The needs of the country mean more to them
than the needs of a political party.
They have taught me to NOT be
beholden to a Party, Jeff.
YES -- can you believe it?
My Republican Brethren and Sisters in the Obama fold
Have taught me that the needs of America
supercede the needs of any Party.
I shall never vote along Party lines -- NO!
Not ever again.
The best man or woman for the job
Is the way I shall vote from here on out
Everything else be damned
I have learned from my Republicans friends,
and this is what happens when people
come together in UNITY
Talk to each,
They learn and
They grow.
Thank you, Jeff!
You are too much! But you are correct. Think of it, too. I do not believe that Teddy's endorsement shall have the same punch as Caroline's though, for Caroline is a female, and Caroline's record is spotless. I have always identified with Caroline; not that I am as intellectually brilliant as she, for the Lady is Superbad in the BRAINS department, but her personality is laid back and sort of goofy; I love it. Plus, she reflects the breeding that Jackie tried so hard to instill in her children. Jackie said she never wanted her children to grow up to be "spoiled rich children" and it appears she succeeded in that accomplishment.
It is nice to meet you. What is that there "W" is chewing on, huh? I cannot tell. Your comments are quite interesting. In defense of Hillary though, Cat, I do believe that Gates made contributions to both Hillary and Obama; Gates is quite the diplomate, isn't he, but covering both bases. Please correct me if I am wrong on that.
Hillary took me out of everything for a while; I mean she really broke my spirit for a time. I COULD NOT BELIEVE she would EVER vote for the Resolution. It was the last straw for me, after 9/11. Then when Senator Obama came into the forefront I was almost afraid to believe his message was real, and that he was real; I watched him VERY closely for a time. I was not going to be fooled again like Hillary has tricked me.
But he IS real. He is no Wizard of Oz with smoke and mirrors behind a curtain. It is as Caroline stated in the article above:
Carolina Kennedy Schlossberg believes that Obama is the candidate to invigorate a younger generation that is "hopeless, defeated and disengaged." Except in my case, he also does this with the older generation, too!
Baiden,
There is yet time. Just make sure your decision is a thoughtful, and wise one. I wish you my best.
Cat, I loved your comments. Thank you!
Caroline is a lawyer and author and mother of 3 children. She has accomplished a lot in her life through her own efforts.
Hello Bruce! Caroline is pretty awesome to me. I personally admire the quiet way she leads her life and the way she has carried on -- yes. Again, I like the idea that Senator Obama has led me to a place of UNITY and meeting people that I would have never otherwise met, or even wanted to meet, with his "improbable journey and possibilities" -- for Pete's sakes, he has caused me to change my beliefs about things I thought I never would and that alone is good enough for me. For example, the openness to the Republican agenda. Because Senator Obama is so open to reaching across the aisle, HECK, then so am I.
My Jeff! My Jeff!
It must be trying and very difficult to be at odds with your family, yes Jeff? Do they give you the business much? Is that the reason that you are so strong-willed and strong-minded, mmm? Whatever the reason, I do admire your tenacity and sticking to your guns in your beliefs and I admire your openness to listen to other points-of-view. That is how you are, Jeff. You listen, even if you believe you point-of-view to be correct, at least you listen to the other person ideas. Sometimes though, you are a hard, hard man though, Jeff. I respect you, immensely.
Thank you all!
I'll still vote for her if she wins the Dem nomination, but in the meantime I like to see this political drama all unfold so crazy like it is. It is VERY entertaining !!!
May the best person win !!!
to rekindle national relevance is pretty sad, but it is
also good to not just see mostly black leaders supporting
Barack Obama. It makes me feel good about the
country even though I don't feel he is quite ready yet.
I do agree that it is great to see so many people supporting Obama. I just viewed this video of an endorsement from John Hutson, Dean of Franklin Pierce Law Center and former Judge Advocate General of the U.S. Navy:

I did find this: An overview of Barack Obama's 10 years as a state and U.S. senator

As I read through this, which I did in main because of your question, Linda, I was amazed at how much he had done. It reminded me of how little we actually know of most of the candidates!!
Bruce, the reason I could not get onto my own page at Obama's site? Shut down for maintenance/upgrades probably due to the heavy traffic.
I know it is those young ones at it, again. THANK GOD that Yahoo! has unlimited storage now, for what would I do??? They have gotten the inbox back up past 15,000 -- it is the young ones, the young ones have done this.
Why does Senator Obama think he is the candidate of the future, of the 21st century?
Ask the young ones -- they ARE the future of this country.
Yep. You gotta love 'em -- the young ones.
Bruce, I just noticed your "lol".
