Anyone watching the U.S. figure skating finals tonight on NBS? The ladies are taking to the ice right now with their freeskate. Wow...this first skating has five triples planned. Anyone want to share opinions and dis the judges with me?
Kimmie Meissner, last year's champion, is in fourth place after the short program. I think the top three skaters are 14 or 15. It seems like figure skating is turning into gymnastics on ice almost.

Anyway, she didn't make her five jumps...she fell on one and doubled two of the others.
The top names will start skating at around 10.
Well, this young skater is skating now that I'm not familiar with but she is great. She did fall out of a double toe, but she did one of the highest triples I have ever seen. She could be our great hope for the next Olympics. Her name is Melinda Bulhagy...is that right? Melissa Bulanhagui.
I hope you are doing wonderful tonight. It is so cold here. We have several inches of snow on the ground still.
This Caroline Zhang is great! I hope she doesn't peak before the olympics!

I watched them and was riveted. I did have to Tivo them because we were having dinner with my mother.
I was just speechless as I watched Kimmie skate and felt so badly for her. When did 18 become "old" (as some said)? She was clearly disheartened before the skating starting, falling during warm-ups and looking tense. Her falls seemed to build on each other.
I understand why the young skater won but I really agree with her when she said, "I need to be more experienced" (or something like that) Technically, she was fine (except for that one fall, the double) but she lacked the artistic flow of some of the more experienced skaters.
What did you think?
