Leaving my abusive ex-husband in 2002 with 4 small kids . . . he had said he would come after me and kill me if I ever left him. But, we got away praise God, and started life anew. In 2004 I married the love of my life, and the best daddy 4 kids (and soon a fifth!) could ever wish for.
Having my husband leave for a younger woman and then being diagnosed with breast cancer 6 months later. I feel like I can face any challenge now, having successfully weathered those storms.
I have at least 2 that could pretty well be classified as some pretty big challenges but I am sorry to say they ended pretty badly. But they are things I am not so sure I should post on here because of the nature of the problems that were involved.
Honestly, there have been a lot, but some are interrelated. I will give you a simple one to put into words. I quit drinking. I have done quit many times, but this last time seems to have "taken".
I would say trying to raise a family of four for $12,000 a year. Without help from the government and others and very little credit card usage. We did it and we were happy, healthy and the kids didn't even know we were struggling.
When we had to sale our house in Savannah GA before it went into Foreclosure and to move back to Augusta GA with a 2 month old baby and my other 2 children to live with my mother in her 2 bedroom apartment.
Learning to go on after my ex kidnapped my children in 1978. Not knowing if they would ever be back in my custody, and recovering from the shock of him and his boyfriend grabbing them after eating ice cream in an ice cream parlor with me... They were taken interstate.
It is a long story and the most painful event of my life. I climbed out of the well of despair and lost hopes and although it took 2 years, I got them back.
They are now 34 and 33 and I am very proud of both of them. All of my 4 children have had challenges that they overcame and they are all great people!
Life after divorce. I felt guilty because I filed and I felt like I failed. I have turned the corner now and it is getting better slowly but better is good.
My biggest challenge I have to face is having to battle depression/anxiety/ocd AND work for a dictatorial principal AND manage a classroom of special needs children with behavioral issues. If I finish the year with my sanity AND I don't wind up in the hospital, it will be a testament to the keeping power of Jesus Christ.

Definitely my divorce and the financial draught that came afterwards. Now that it's been over twenty years, it seems like small potatoes, but it was very hard at the time.
oh wow, a good place to get things off your chest ... I would have to say dealing with death ... i'm not sure which was worse / the death or the watching some one you love suffer for 9 loooong months. My brother ( at age 43 ) passed away in 2001 from a rare type of head cancer, then two yrs. later my mom had a heart attack / she died on 44th my birthday, we buried her two days later on her 66th b-day. that was really a hard one.... i'm still dealing with it some....good days and bad days.
Finding out I had cancer and having to tell my mom.The hubby was easy and the brother and sister but it was hard to tell my mom.I go every 6 months for a check up and so far I'm good,but it's always in the background.
I WOULD SAY IT WAS MY SECOND SPINE SURGEY. THE FIRST TIME , I WAS CRUMLED OVER, NO WAY WAS I GOING TO STAY LIKE THAT! THE SECOND WAS A HARDER ONE TO DEAL WITH, THE THIRD HAD TO BE DONE BECAUSE MY BODY DID NOT ACCEPT THE 'DONATED BONE', AND HAD TO BE REPLACED WITH METAL.
