I Got A Call From My Resume....

Ok yesterday I got a phone call from a company that, I had my friend who worked there turn in my resume a month ago, does phone books & distribution & they called me! He had me come in a 9AM today &

I took a picture before I left for my 1st job in a year! (it's temp for a little bit...maybe until I start the other one next week...) and yeah it felt like my 1st day of school LOL!

 

I also got a pic when I came home ;o). I was ROUGHED up! LOL jk!

It was actually a pretty good day ;o)

 

 

I was just straight cold calling people ALL DAY to see if they got their phone books! I got only 2 people who hung up on me & 1 person who said they didn't like getting all of the phone books all of the time LOL! I had empathy for him though cause yeah there are like 5 phone books that come out from different companies so it can be annoying LOL! The company was trying a new thing with not using the sticky stuff to have the attached magnets be on the books...but rather have them be tucked inside. I got a lot of unsures & no's on the magnet & the boss was disappointed & looked a little worried cause he was concered about that. I want to help him in knowing what to do for next time so that it won't take a lot of labor & also cost in materials. Anyone have any clues out there? ;o)

So I like the place they are very laid back & the manager is a young guy who I have already joked with LOL! I broke the pen he gave me too LOL!!! He gave me a hard time about it LOL! My friend even had me join her for lunch...otherwise I don't know if I would have taken one.

I felt at home there, but part of me REALLY wants to do the other temp job where it is straight data entry...I LOVE data entry! (but that one is only a month & this other one could turn into a full time position...hmmmmm) What do you all think? Well I hope you all had a good day & I hope no one misses me too much LOL ;o). My kids even greeted me at the door & they were so happy to see me...that was nice! ;o)

 

(oh & if this doesn't make sense & there is a lot of run ons....it has been a long day LOL!)

I'm glad the place is laid back, thats the kind of job that I like. Data entry would be fun but the one that could become a permanante job was probably your best choice.

That job doesn't sound too bad. At least you don't have to sell anything. No one every calls me to see if I got my phone book. I guess they don' t care about me, huh. Congrats on the job anyway.

Congratulations dear, don't let those people get you down just treat each phone call like a new one. I used to be a switchboard operator back in my day when I was a young and there used to be big switches and plugs and there was a party line and you used to have to ask people to get off the line so you could put other calls through.

Oh my goodness! I had never noticed it before, but you look so much like Gillian Anderson!!!!!! I think she is soooo pretty! She's introducing all of those Jane Austen movies that are on PBS right now.

Anyhoo........congratulations on the job. Man, I'd stick with the one that could turn out to be a full-time position. It sounds like you are doing well there and like it and the people around you. That is a definite plus. And if it could turn out to be full-time, that would be great!! And I know it would really help you guys out. If the other one that you would like the work better (the data entry one) calls and if it could possibly be full-time go for it; otherwise stay with the one that will be longer work. That's my opinion.

congrats on the job. i would probably stick with the one that would turn permanent, but if you really like the other job, than that is a tougher decision

Ok so today I talked to the manager & I told him that I needed to know if this one could turn out to become something full time & if not that I would probably prefer to go to the data entry job. But I said to him that if he can move me around to different jobs & even have something for me permenantly that I would like to stay with them. And I told him how the data entry job is not a permanent thing. And I said if you will have me I would like to stay here as long as possible. And he said that they would like to keep me! It is so nice to have 2 companies fighting for you haha ;o) Such a confidence booster AND it is nice that you have options cause then the one company feels they may lose someone that would be great for them haha ;o) Today was a lot better too. I found out I was doing something wrong on the paperwork (I found out on my own...no one told me...) and so I fixed it sort of LOL! Anyways I need to bathe the kids! I feel so alive now & not so irritated with the kiddos & I show them lots of love now haha ;o) Ok I always did, but less yelling haha ;o) You momma's know what I am talkin' about haha

Hey Birdee! Congratulations! I went back to work part time a few months ago. There is child care free on site for the employees there & I work about 8 - 16 hours a week & it's been wonderful for my esteem. I am better w/ the kids b/c I feel a little better about myself I think. I am very tired, but it seems to be working out well. Good luck!
