Some of you may have seen my previous photo essay Visiting Dawes Arboretum In Autumn At that time I was able to capture some glorious fall color. Dawes is a 1700 acre park about 30 miles east of Columbus, Ohio on Rt. 13. Last Monday was sunny, dry and clear and my husband had the day off. Though it was very cold it seemed like a good tiime for a day trip.

Didn't find glorious foilage this tiime but I did find lots of geese! The honking was incredibly loud and a crow overhead was cawing loudly along with them. My husband spoke and it became instantly and strangely quiet. So we just stood there for a few moments of silence with the geese and crow and then they suddenly all started up again.

It was quieter on the other end of the lake.

Nice spot for a picnic but much too cold. Had to keep moving.

I really liked this sundial. You stand on the square that is marked with the month and then tell the time by seeing where your shadow falls. There are round markers on the pavement with numbers. My husband is standing on the January square and his shadow head is pointing between the one and the two a little past the midpoint. It was 1:40 when the picture was taken. Accurate!
