Would you re-marry if?

Someone asked my husband and I would we re-marry if we past away.  My husband said he wouldn't and I said I would but now I've changed my mind. 

I'm 37 years old and my husband is the only man I've been with and to think of starting all over again, is not what I want to do.  I would have to learn this person and learn his ways, I just don't think I would like to start over again.

My husband and I plan on being together in our old age, sitting in our rocking chairs on our porch.

Would you re-marry if something was to happen?

I hope this is something I never have to face! I've been with my husband for 11 years now and I can't imagine being with anyone else. I'm going to be 33 this summer. My kids are 7 and 4.

I MIGHT after my kids were grown but my main focus would have to remain on THEM!

Carolyn, of course this is a favorite trick question for humorists to use when the wife asks, "If I died, would you remarry?" All men know there is no safe way out of that question, as did I until one day a friend of mine asked her husband (true story):

HE: I would — after an appropriate grieving period.
SHE: Who would you marry? Do I know her?
HE: No. She hasn't been born yet.

OK, not a safe answer but funny enough to distract her while he beat a hasty retreat.

NO NO NO NO NO!! My husband and I have talked about this before and we both agree that should anything happen to either of us (God Forbid) that we would NOT remarry. The reason is that neither of us wants to be replaced by someone else in the eyes of our son. I don't want my son calling some other woman mom and he doesn't want his son to call someone else dad. Perhaps if we didn't have kids, then it would be different, but we do...so NO WAY!

I don't honestly know. If my husband was to pass away I would be focused on my kids. I can't say no because love aways happens when you least expect it.

Good answers everyone, the children are important and I think that's one of the reasons my husband said no, he said, it would be just him and the children.

A couple of days ago that thought went through my mind. I've been with my husband for over 12 years now. I have always told my husband he better not re-marry or I promise I will haunt him for the rest of his life...lol....lol.......... I don't think I could honestly answer that question at this point in time in my life. Although I really don't think I would. Especially after loving someone so much and for so long. No one could ever fill that void in my heart. But I must say that everyone deserves to be happy and if they find that happiness and love again it is truly a gift.

I am married to my soul mate. The man of my so called dreams. I could never find another man who could measure up to my husband. I know all this sounds very corny but it is true. I have been married for over twenty years and I can not even think of spending time with another man. My grandparents were married well over forty years. My grandmother never remarried after pop dies. My mom and dad have been married well over thirty years so far and they are still together. My mom says she would never marry again. I guess I feel marriage should last forever.

I'm newly divorced but if I were married I would keep my options open. My Grandparents were married for 61 years when my my Grandfather passed away a few years ago. They married at 19 & 20 and still acted like newly weds. We always felt that when one of them passed that the other would die of a broken heart within months but that was 5 years ago and my 85 year old grandmother has been dating for the last 4 years. She is serious with a gentleman right now. I believe my Grandparents spoke about the subject and agreed they did not want the other to be lonely. They had watched so many of their friends pass on already. It gives me hope . . . watching my grandmother not start over but carry on with her life and find happiness.

well something happened in my life already. it isn't easy starting over but i still believe it is possible and in my circumstances i hope it will happen. my pop is 90 and if i happen to live that long i could be married longer the 2nd time than i was the first. i believe in marriage. it can be lonely out here.

Long, long story but my husband passed away in 2006 and me and my boyfriend from high school reconnected and he asked me to marry him. We get along great and my kids love him so why not.

I don't know if I would or not. Rick and I have our moments when I wish we had not gotten married. I think we fight more now that we are married than before we were... so I don't know if I'd want to go through another marriage!

I have no idea. I don't really like to think about it. We have a friend who's hubby passed a few years back of ALS - so they knew this was coming for years. She remarried recently. She has 4 kiddos w/ her hubby who passed away & they were such a happy, vibrant family. She's so strong & amazing, I have always though very highly of her.

I was married at 20, divorced at 27, and didn't remarry until I was almost 47. I can attest to the fact that it is possible to find tru love and happiness later in life. Sarting over when you're set in your ways isn't always easy, but after 4 years, it feels like we've known each other all of our lives and I feel truly happy.

Carolyn, in my grandparents time, it seems like they didn't re-marry as much. Personally, I wouldn't want to. I would try to maybe find a room mate or something. I'm 55, and I do like some solitude, but not all the time. In answer to your question, I would say no to re-marrying, unless I had to for financial reasons! With todays economy, who knows what could happen!!!

I have been married 42 years now. Each year it gets better and easier and I am so blessed to have this marriage all this time. It sure hasn't always been easy, in fact, sometimes it has been quite a challenge. I sure am glad I stuck with it, right now I am reaping the rewards. I don't think I would ever want to remarry and start all over again. My father in law remarried at 78 and all they had was health problems the whole time. I think it depends on the circumstances, never say never you know.
