President Bush Throws Out A Few Bread Crumbs

  President Bush caused the slump America is in, with his war in Iraq. The War in Iraq is costing us billions upon billions of dollars a day and is adding to our deficit at an unbelievable pace. Now he and his cronies along with the idiots in Washington are giving his corporate handlers huge tax cuts hidden among the few breadcrumbs they attend to appease us regular Americans with. 



   The fact that we are borrowing untold billions of dollars in order to fund this war for freedom in Iraq is what has caused the downward spiral of the U.S. dollar. Our children and children's children will be paying for this idiocy long after we are gone. And I don't believe this so-called "Kick Start To The Economy" will accomplished anything or cause anything beyond a small and weak ripple in our country's stagnant economy. What it will accomplish is to give the bigwigs and honchos of Bush's corporate handlers, a windfall which they can use next time they are in need of a new corporate jet

I have never blamed the current dire straits we are in as a country on Bush. But it can't be denied that our ever-growing deficit is primary reason behind the weak dollar in the world market, and this weak attempt at restarting the economy is merely window dressing and a smoke screen to distract the attention of the fed up American.

Juan, this is a rather narrow view. The US economy is so complicated, and it's affected by so many factors. It also fails to note the positive impact from companies such as Boeing, General Dynamics, Lockheed Martin, and Raytheon collectively creating tens of thousands of jobs in the defense industry, one of the last frontiers not outsourced. Now wouldn't that be a hoot? Yeah, let's let the Russians engineer our defense systems and save a few bucks.

I just hope we don't go the way of Brazil. If we push it there's no reason we won't. Money is now international and if our dollar becomes cheap enough the world will turn their banks on it - and we completely collapse like Brazil did. They have a giant economy and productive population but that wasn't enough.

How big can our debt get before that happens? A nation can't spend along in growing debt forever !!!!

If you ignore all the distractions and camouflage that is intentionally created by our leaders in Washington you would be able to see that it really is simple. We are spending and borrowing far more than we will ever be able to payback, far more than our children will ever be able to pay back. The only real winners in all this are countries like China and Saudi Arabia who use our weaken dollar as an opportunity to swoop in and buy up America at a bargain price.
Deb, I don't know if you mentioned those natural disasters just to prove they blame everything on GW AND GW, but natural disasters such as Katrina, also have a devastating effect on our economy. The mere impending doom of another natural disaster also affects the economy negatively.

It's plain to see, however, that all is lost on the single faceted who think every answer consists of one simple solution.

Which is the truth 100%. Do not back down now...you put it out there stand by it.

Bush is the worst president we have ever had and may very well have destroyed this country beyond repair...smiling and offering us a few hundred bucks is like sticking a piece of chewing gum on a crack in the Hoover damn.

Mandi, That is exactly my point, this hurried tax package is nothing more a distraction and there are many struggling Americans that will be taking the bait and thanking Bush for the measly breadcrumbs he is allowing us to eat off his silver and gold encrusted plate that has been paid by the hard working class of America.

I remember many things from my economic, international business and accounting classes in college. I do acknowledge that are many factors that can influence our economy and the value of the U.S. dollar. However, I also cannot overlook the current and most important factor dragging down our economy and that is the huge and ever-growing deficit created by President Bush's ego driven war .

This reminds me of a company I work with some time back. The company was the biggest music retailer in Texas. On the first Christmas season I spent with this company, I received a form Christmas card with a $20.00, as did the rest of the store staff. Most of the staff was all giddy that they were given a crisp new 20-dollar bill. However, I along with two of my salesmen decided to send the money back to Corporate and we did.

It seems that are a whole lot people who sadly can be bought off with a few bubbles and beads.
Now if you replaced the first paragraph of this article with the last statement you made, it would be a good start to an article that has some credibility.

I'm glad you did bring that little anecdote up, Juan. You said they are the biggest retailer in TX. Since you refer to the salesmen, as "your salesmen" I can only assume you had a management position. Why would you get the same amount of money as a someone working under you? I've NEVER heard of such a thing happening, and I've been in the business world for 25 years.

This company no longer exists. It declared bankruptcy after several lawsuits regarding their less than reputable business practices. We never knew exactly, but the office gossip was it might have been due to the fact that our store was the only Hispanic Managed store in their entire chain. But then again it might have been just the owners were cheap skates.

Can't say, signed a letter of confidentiality at the time of the settlement. But I can tell you it declared bankruptcy about 3 years ago.

Juan, I agree that Bush has made this horrible mess! He should be blamed! I just hope that we can get a good president this next term who can turn things around, but they don't make them like they used to!!
Juan, there are no letters of confidentiality that state you cannot name a company for which you've worked. If that were so, I'd have dozens of resumes in my database of over 60,000 resumes of C level employees that would have Company Undisclosed with their duties and responsiblities listed, or there would be a gap there that I would have to investigate, if not. I don't have even one with such a scenario.

Sue, I am talking about the confidentiality agreement, my fellow ex-business associates and myself signed at the settlement conference regarding our civil lawsuit against the previously mention by not named company. Besides our lawsuit this company lost another suit for a reported 20 million dollars. It was at this point they declared bankruptcy.
I find that difficult to believe because there have been suits filed by employees against companies whose resumes are in my database and not one has not named the company in his resume. Many of these companies are still in business, so much more culpability would be involved, but... if you say so, Juan.

If a company does not wish for certain facts to emerge they usually attach certain conditions to a settlement, in our case not to divulge the amount or the facts unearthed during depositions and discovery motions. They had not settled the other lawsuit at this time, so it is my guess they wanted to limit any information that might have affected that other case. Can't say, if that is the reason, but either way that are the facts so to speak.

In my opinion there are several reasons why the US economy is having the struggles and Gulf War 2 is one of them. I understand that the economy is complicated and it is hard to single out any one reason for current problems but wars are never cheap. The price to put just one man or woman in a uniform is mind blowing. Not to mention the money that is spent to keep them in that uniform or to care for them if (goodness forbid) they are injured while they serve. Plus, like Juan said, we are borrowing huge amounts of money to keep up the rebuilding of Iraq.

Also (like others have stated) most of the US is in debt and living beyond their means. It's one big clusterf$%!

Shannon, it is all interconnected. Because of what we are spending to continue this war in Iraq, our debt keeps growing at an alarming rate. This makes the dollar worth less and less, thus making us pay more for imported goods and exports are worth less in return. This drags down the economy, which makes interest rate go up, which collapses our housing market, which in return makes banks loose money. All this because of the idiotic war Bush and his cronies started. The only winners are the oil companies and Halliburton.
