The prose bug bit me long ago
just where the germs went I don't know
perhaps they're hiding in a cupboard
sipping tea with Mother Hubbard
All I know is rhyme's the thing
that perks my brain up with a zing
but let me not step on your toes
just haul right off and write some prose
Yet leave alone my right to rhyme
it's easy when you find the time
a list of words that sound alike
reminds you how to ride the bike
For once you climb upon its seat
a rhyming verse is hard to beat
so let's not fight or cause a fuss
these boots were made for both of us
A good swift kick to get me started
rhyme and prose forever parted
times are tough so think of me
for penning fluffy rhymery.
