Two Years Since Mama Flew To The Moon

Mama gave me the moon. That beautiful round pearl was a gift forever. I treasure its light in my life. When I gaze up at that sacred jewel, I see mama's smiling face. She is waving. Thank you, Mama for letting me know that you'd always be with me. I love you. Salud.

Marianne - Did you see the moon last night? My daughter and I were driving up the mountain from Holtville, when I looked back to see the most incredibly huge golden globe on the eastern horizon. It was so enormous, it took me a second to recognize that it was the moon. It was one of the most incredible views of the moon I have ever seen.
I have a feeling I would have really liked your Mama. I always used to be so jealous of other women who had good relationships with their mothers!

It WAS a beautiful moon last night, by the way.

I want to thank each of you who have graced and gifted me with your wonderful and thoughtful comments. Life isn't the same when you lose mama like mine. She was the whole town's mama, for sure. If you ever find yourself in the tiny town of Franklin, La. - ask where Mama T's house is - and there won't be a soul who won't point you in the right direction! Yes, I have survived another year without her blessed physical presence but we are not just the physical body - that's just a suitcase for our soul. May each of you who read this know that I'm sending you all a blessing and a grateful Thank you. Salud.

ah, what a sweet gift your Mama gave you, and that gift will last your lifetime. i have drawn strength from your stories of your Mama this past year, and it has helped me discover the lovely things about my own Mom. She will be gone one year on January 31. It's been hard to sort out feelings of sadness and love and lonliness in the midst of grieving both parents gone in one year, and as I am still finishing the business stuff. I have two containers on my bedroom floor filled with their ashes, because we cannot decide what to do with them. I will be writing about that soon, I think...may help to work through it.

I am so sorry for your loss Sis. I have received many remembrances from my Mom and one in particular that I have been wearing for over 25 years. A gold religious medallion that I rarely if ever take off except perhaps to clean. I also have some beautiful gold setting pearl earrings that were once her favorites. Mom never has worn anything in her ears except pearls since the very first pair that my Dad bought her in Japan over 50 years ago.

I hope that I can keep my Mom around longer Sis. We are best friends and without her I will not know what to do with myself...

I remember the lite beer cans when they looked like that...man those are like wonderful to see.

I am hoping that you can always look at the moon and think of your Momma. I do the same for my Daddy, we lost him in '82, I was all of 17 years old, talk about I had to grow up fast.
