Play opens with the lovely Queen sharing her beauty with the happy inhabitants of La La Land. It's another warm and sunny day. The children are playing, and a violin plays a happy tune for the Queen to sing to her subjects, The King is yet sitting on his throne. But a storm clouds hangs in the horizon. An evil plot is brewing in the land.

Penni can be tamed by firemen, they make her perspire
"I have heard that the evil Penni is plotting to dethone the king. I am here to save his magesty. But wait, didn't the king superglue himself to the throne? So how can he be dethroned if he is glued to it? I must ponder this a while." (Exits stage right.)
Bring in your army, Ivan. My land is happy, but some want to change that. As for the cloud and storm complaints, it is January.

"You don't need to worry about my mother. I am able to have that sword any time it desires me."
"How?"
"Tony Moretti will procure it for me. She'll give him anything he wants."
"What makes you so sure of this?"
Paidra rolled her eyes back into their sockets. "Are you jesting with me?" she said, her voice growing louder. "My Mother will give him ANYTHING he wants. Trust me on that." She is completely begiled by him. Besides, he's on vacation and wishes not to be bothered with matters of state."
"What did Sir Baiden have to say? You did speak with him, didn't you?" asked Avire.
"He is so gaga over that skirt of his that he's useless to us. Besides, it has been brought to my atttention that the Queen sneaks him milk and cookies."
"Do thinketh thou it be something a tad stronger that she givieth him?"
"Meanith you elixer of the barley?" asked Paidra. "I thinketh not. The king is sopping up all of the royal booze that she has. Word is he's a real lush. Half of the time he cannot even get off the throne?"
"The runs?"
"What?"
You said he couldn't get off the throne. I assumed you meant he has the runs. You know, from the elixer and all that rich food he eats."
"Not that throne, naive. The kings throne."
"Oh, sorry. I wasn't thinking."
