When with labored dreariness
I find I must explore
A respite from my weariness
I recall my childhood days of yore
And I take my soul, worldworn and sore,
Back to youth's unspoiled summer shores.
I behold bright colored pails and shovels
And hear laughter rising as the sea gulls soar.
And among my dear ones, long departed
I'm once more cherished and adored.
Beloved as never again I'll know it
I was treasured then and not ignored.
And now I lift my eyes to heaven
And very deeply I implore
That I may find on another shore
Someone I've never met before
And find myself beloved once more.
