I need your help Gatherers!
I have to admit something....I have a bread machine, but I hardly use it!
I went to a meeting yesterday to discuss having activities for the ladies of my church & we were talking about different bread ideas & it made me REALLY want to make bread in my bread maker. I once saw a friend make a loaf of bread & pour an Italian salad dressing mix in the dough & it was SOOOOOO good! So I got on the internet & tried looking for a bread recipe & couldn't find one that I thought would be good. I want to try the Italian salad dressing mix in a recipe. So can any of you help me search, or do any of you have any AWESOME bread recipes for the bread machine? Heck if you have any bread machine articles please feel free to link them here ;o). THANKS! And I hope to hear from you all soon!

There is an excellent Yahoo group dedicated to bread machines:
http://groups.yahoo.com/group/bread-machine/
The files, available to ll group members, are loaded with good bread machine recipes, and there is daily conversation about using bread machines.
Many if not most experienced brea machine users do not bake the loaf in the machine; they use the machine to mix and knead and be a warm place for rising. Then they hand shape the loaf and bake it in the oven. When you do this, you don't need special bread machine recipes. Any bread recipe works.
Bread machine recipes require great precision because they have to work under machine conditions, but hand formed and baked bread is very forgiving. You don't even need a recipe; just do what you like.
Not all the traditional bread machine "rules" are valid any more. Bread machines were invented in Japan for reasons based specifically on Japanese culture. The first years of bread machine recipes had features specific to Japanese culture. For example, they all call for powdered milk or powdered buttermilk because people don't drink milk regularly in Japan as in the US. Fresh milk in a Japanese household would go sour before it got used, so recipes call for powdered milk, which keeps well in the pantry. Milk also makes a very soft-textured bread prized more in Japan than in the US. OTOH, French and other Mediterranean breads contain water but no milk.
Good luck and let us know how you do!
Makes 1 1/2 pound loaf
cooks on the FAST BAKE setting (1 hour)
1 1/4 c + 1 TBL water
7 tsp oil
3 1/2 TBL brown sugar
1 1/2 tsp salt
1 1/2 TBL dry milk
3 1/2 cups bread flour
1 tsp cinnamon
1/2 raisins
1/2 cup walnuts

Just throw everything in your machine in that order.
I've tried the Italian one but none of the others although I've been wanting to try the honey granola one.
cinnamon rain bread
dried fruit bread

peanut butter honey bread (I'm making this one next!)
seed bread (whatever the crap that is!)
pumpernickel bread
pesto bread
dill bread
italian herb bread
hearty nut bread
jalapeno bread (yum, will have to make this one too)
