First Obama was told "it would be better if he 'waited his turn.'"
Then came the charges that the youthful, idealistic Senator, who is short of depth and ideas, is "inexperienced," and "not up to" the challenges of being Commander in Chief."
Former President Bill Clinton, no slave to propriety, tradition or even common decency stepped-up the political rhetoric and called the Barack's candidacy "a fairy tale."
When Hillary Clinton said "it took a President" to enact the dreams of Dr. Martin Luther King, her message could not have been more loud and clear: Obama is not electable because of his race.
During Saturday's Nevada caucus, voting irregularities were allegedly legion as Senator Obama's campaign has charged would-be caucus goers were given the incorrect closing time for voting. In a Breitbart.com article dated January 20,2008, an Obama campaign spokesman was quoted as saying:
"Despite clear rules and timelines laid out by the Nevada Democratic Party that caucus doors should remain open and voter registration should continue until noon, the Clinton campaign encouraged their operatives to close the caucus doors at 11:30 am, a half hour before that deadline," said spokesman Bill Burton. "This caused confusion and led to people leaving the caucuses before having the chance to participate."
In other words voters were disinfranchised.
Newsweek.com is reporting that leading Democrats, such as Sen. Edward M. Kennedy, who has yet to endorse a candidate, and Illinois Rep. Rahm Emmanuel have had conversations with Bill Clinton, described as "heated" in which they have told him to "pipe down," with regard to the racially charged and divisive rhetoric Hillary's campaign has been employing and that the former President is largely culpable for the injection of race in the Democrat race for the nomination.
One has to wonder if the Clintons, in their desperate, naked, and wanton power-grab for the Democrat nomination, are so maniacally driven that they are willing to sacrifice party unity in order to secure what they feel in rightfully theirs. (One wag went so far as to suggest that the nomination and the Presidency was the ultimate alimony payment to Hillary).
Regardless of how you feel about her political positions, it is remarkable that we have, for the first time in American history, the first viable female candidate for President in Senator Clinton; she is rightfully enjoying the accolades and the publicity such a position engenders.
Judging by the growing list of endorsements Obama is getting from party heavyweights, more recently from Senator John F. Kerry, Arizona Governor Janet Napalitano, Nebraska Senator Ben Nelson, Missouri Senator Claire McCaskill, and, I predict, Senators John Edwards and Senator Edward Kennedy?Mr. Obama's candidacy is not considered "a fairy tale" by his compatriots.
If the Clinton's continue their campaign of disrespect, disregard, and disgruntlement right up to the coronation/convention, will Senator Obama's supporters be able to forgive and forget?
