The Candle (Poetry Please- Wick)

The Candle

 

Faith; wick for the soul,

Burning impurities out.

Beauty of truth shown,

To bring light into the world,

The candle diminishes.

          ~~~~

 

This is a tanka, with lines of syllable count as follows;

5, 7, 5, 7, 7

Faith is a candle burning brightly, but when it diminishes we must find ways to replenish the flame.
I know I have said it before --I LOVE THE WAY YOU WRITE AND THE WAY YOU BRING MERE WORDS TO LIFE.

Virginia, this is excellent. It really hits you at the last line. But I have to say that my favorite line is the first Faith; wick for the soul,. It really leads us into the rest of your poem beautifully. Well Done.
