Do you gamble? If so, in what way?

I took a chance on you ;-)

I used to gamble back home, but it was no big deal to do it there. I used to do the lottery and the pools (footie) and have the odd flutter on the horses, especially on Grand National Day. Now I'm over here in NC, gambling (unless it's the 'State approved' version, i.e. lottery which you know we do) is frowned upon for some bizarre reason. It definitely makes things a little more boring!

No. I'm lousy at it; I'm going to Vegas in February and have no plans to gamble. Maybe just a slot machine. . .or two. . .

I have never been to a casino, which is something I'd really like to do someday. The extent of gambling for me is buying a lottery ticket each week.

I'll play the slots at the casinos. I've started playing Texas Hold'em on the free sites online like PartyPoker.net but I haven't played in a "real" game yet or for real money.

Peter, I have heard a lot about Texas Hold 'em but I have never played and don't know the difference between that and regular poker

I don't normally gamble but I have on occassion. I played the nickel slots in San Juan and I played the quarter slots in Atlantic City and Vegas, but less that 4 dollars in San Juan and $100 in Atlantic City maybe 20 bucks in Vegas. I'd rather spend my money on a new outfit or groceries.

Oh, there's PLENTY to do in Vegas without gambling! It's funny, I didn't even THINK about gambling there until I saw this thread. My brother gave me this Vegas trip for my Christmas/birthday gift, which includes two shows (SPAMALOT and Cirque de Soliel) and showing me around the town (I haven't been since I was 10 years old, in 1972!!!)

Yes, by getting out of bed every morning, life is a gamble! ;-) Other than that Sharon, yes I do, Casinos once in a great while, Powerball and other state lotteries on occasion and office pools and the like. I used to do other gambling and was pretty good at it for a while but it does catch up to you.

David is right, Vegas does have`a lot to offer other than gambling. I took my kids there about 5 or 6 years ago and they had a blast at the ages of 12 and 13.

I gamble sometimes. I always put a limit on my spending before I go to the casino. My limit is usually $20 or $40 (for the night). I play video poker.

Yea I take one trip to Mohegan Sun a year maybe if that. When we went to New Orleans we also went to a casino that was before Katrina. Once in a while I will play texas hold em for change. I am not into anything big. I do like football squares only during super bowl time.
I have won a couple hundred at the casino and last year I won 400 on a football square I paid 10$ for. So if you do not let it take over your life once in a while can be fun.
With my life, every time I get on I-435 in Johnson County, KS. And I hit the Argossy Casino in Missouri every few months or so; I'm a slots kind of girl. I only play the 50 Lions and King of Egypt, because everything else confoozles me. I also impose a spending cap on myself of $60, and if I "hit," I immediately print the voucher and put it to the side, and play off whatever money I have remaining. Truth is, I've broken even most times, but I've never won big. Maybe I'm due? (I doubt it.)

I also get in on all the football/basketball/baseball pools at my local Tavernacle, but most people don't consider that "gambling," -- I do.

Well I do buy lottery tickets. Gamble. I deal on Thursday nights, and Sunday afternoons at one bar and soon will be dealing at another bar on Saturday nights but I don't gamble. I get a "rake" off every pot and do not participate so I could care less who wins. I get mine regardless.

I gamble but set a limit of $20.00 always no matter what and if I hit I instantly stop collect and go home......considering myself lucky.....I have strong willpower that way that always amazes others who gamble and can't control themselves.

We buy an occasional Power Ball ticket - and I do mean "occasional" like every month or two. We do go to the Casino here but we play on the penny machines and $20-$40 can last us for 8 hours! We go just to get out of the house and have some fun. I have won on them but I usually end up giving it all back to them LOLOL. It's still fun to just go and get out of the house!

Yes, I love to gamble. But it's not like I have a problem or anything. I occassionally get lotto tickets and scratch offs. At my favorite bar, we play dice and I usually do the sports pools. I would love to Las Vegas someday, not anytime soon since I don't have the money to gamble that way.

Yes,I do Gamble,in the casino,used to go to Atlantic City,now I go to Harrah's in Chester,nice casino,I love to play the slots,no tables,don't know how and the one and only time I did play the tables,the people got mad at me,for not knowing what was I was doing,they said I was messing them up,so I left,and that was that.I do gamble on line,sometimes with money,but mostly free games.This way I get to try a lot more games.It is fun,but you have to set a limit,I would'nt even go to a casino with 40 or 50 dollers,not enough money,can't have any fun that way,you also have to be ready to lose.If not you beat yourself down for spending that money when you think to yourself,I could have used that money for something else.Ps.I love Vegas
