Well, here is a new and interesting idea. PARKards stands for personal and real greeting cards. Please visit the site:: www.parkards.com Even though it says it is coming soon, the greeting card company started this week already.
I was hired last year to write for them. You may find some of my cards/poetry on them. Names of writers and artists will be listed on the back of the card, but you can't just go to a site and look for my name. So, only if you know my style will you recognize my cards.
Even if you don't purchase a greeting card (you purchase on line and an actual card is mailed out within 24 hours) just browsing will help get the buzz going and you may find some interesting cards. There are cards for many personalities and interests.
Here's an example of a couple ...this is just a portion of the greeting card:
Birthday
"Dear Sweetheart,
As long as the day is day
and night follows day -
is as long as I'll love you.
On this most special of days
(it is, for you were born on this day)
Let us praise God who created you.
Celebrate with laughter, joy,
great music and poetic words."
and another one:
(For sick child)
Dear Sis
A Story for __________
There once
was a funny Lad
Who was never found Sad,
but only quite glad.
And then one rainy day
You could hear him howl and bay.
I wished he was back so gay-
but his face had turned quite gray."
and another one: birthday, 13 year old
"I'm thankful for the months and years
I watched you grow -
full of fun, laughter, songs and tears
and even moments of angst and fears.
But growing up does mean new feelings,
new thoughts; it all brings
questions and hopes, and what does being older mean.
Do friendships change now that you're thirteen?
And will your parents understand how in-between
You feel? Wanting to be a grown up woman,
yet not believing childhood is done?"
There are many more writers. I enjoy the art and the variety you have to chose from.
Check it out and let me know what you think.
