I remember when I was a small girl, there was a Ben Franklin store about an hour away. My mom loved to go in and just look around. We did not have money to purchase anything but mom was very good at looking at it and making it herself at home with supplies that were either in our home or in nature. That store has been closed for years now.
I noticed that Ben Franklin has a site online. It has lots of craft projects that are free to view. The directions are so easy to follow. I loved this homemade heart necklace. It would be great for Valentines day or for Mothers Day.
Ben Franklin Has many projects on the site. You will find something for everyone to make with these easy craft patterns.
Annie's Attic offers a free pattern each day. They have some really good ideas. The main site offers many free patterns. Just scroll to about the middle and you will see the links for them.
There are many recipe groups on gather. Each has some wonderful recipes. Find your recipes and prepare a nice candle light dinner at home. Put on some low romantic music and you are ready for a wonderful night with your Valentine. You really don't need to pay for a high priced restaurant.
You can have a great night with your Valentine by renting or borrowing from a friend a good movie, make a nice desert and have a date night in your own living room.
Don't forget to make and give Valentine coupons. I love giving these to my husband. You can print off some nice ones at Parenting Leehansen. I know there are more sites that have coupons to print too.
Enjoy and add your own ideas in the comment area. Hope each of you have a wonderful Valentines day, while staying frugal.

There were a few with in traveling distance and I loved
going into those stores. There was always a couple of
shelves filled with sales items that came in handy for
gift giving birthdays or Christmas.
As for Valentines Day for me is just another day Connie.
No more sweethearts for this old gal.
Do have a great night Connie
Warm Regards
Barbara

Was that for Valentines day? I remember when that happened. You had your heart set on Olive Garden for dinner. Sorry you did not get to eat it. :(
Cindy,
That is so cool. I have not seen one for years. I
Gwen,
I think you will find some great ideas on the various sites that I suggested.
Necee,
I have not seen a Ben Franklin's in years. I though they were all gone until Cindy wrote that there was one in her area.
Marianne,
You dont know what you were missing. It was the best craft and hobby stores back in the day...
Norma,
I miss it too.

I hope you have a nice valentines day. My husband usually gets both our daughters candy and/or card for valentines day.
Bob,
I hope you will pass the info on.
Tiffany,
It is a holiday that has become too commercialized just like all the other holidays
I agree. I love doing things with my husband that does costs little or no money. I enjoy them more than the things that cost money.
For Valentine's Day, I think we are going to eat at Applebee's, and I will probably buy Elliott a stuffed animal. We won't be buying any candy this year, since we bought some Christmas candy at CVS for 90% off a week or two ago.
I'm always looking for something fun.
I should post some of my ideas on here. We have made so many little things and had so much fun.
I enjoy reading your articles BTW they are always so helpful at times.
Anyway, I have no idea what I will do for Valentines Day.
I personally love to make homemade Valentine's cards every year! Maybe I'll post pictures of what I make this year!
