I figured a photo essay is the best way to show these images in succession. The timeline from first photo to the last is about 45 minutes. When I first noticed flurries, it was 36 degrees. It was 33 degrees for the last two photos.
The only reason why snow is a big deal here is the lack of severe weather machinery for the sheer volume of people. I think my little town of Dallas, PA had about 15-20 snow plows, a population of maybe 2% the amount of people in the Atlanta Metro area, which has 4 plows.

Above: Just a dusting as it started to pick up and fall harder onto our grill and back deck.
People here in Georgia cannot drive in any poor weather, let alone snow or ice. I remember the first year I was here, we got a March storm that dumped about 6" of snow. We had a 4WD vehicle and couldn't get out of my apartment complex for 2 days because of the melt and refreezing that was occurring. I also remember running several red lights in order to avoid being rear-ended from the cars behind mine that were unable to stop.

Above: It's officially a snow squall now as you can see from this shot that I took while standing on the front porch.

My little message I wrote on the front windshield of my car as I ran out to the store.

The above photo is taken when I returned from the store. The snow was just starting to coat the road in my subdivision.

The accumulation after 45 minutes (from first photo) on a hedge in front of my home.
With our temperature hovering right around the freezing mark overnight, I do worry about the possibility of black ice tonight and tomorrow. This city literally shuts down when it snows or the roads are icy. And that just sucks.

(I'm in Minneapolis and we're READY for it ha ha)
One day they released ups a few hours after school started and we were waling in snow up to our thighs! Insane!
Snow has stopped. It's just flurries now. The weather people here don't know if we'll get more or not, but freezing rain for the a.m. rush hour is a distinct possibility. Glad I work from home!
Barb, Let's see in 16 years, it's snowed or iced here maybe 10-12 times counting flurries and squalls.
Well Kathy, we're getting sleet and freezing rain now and supposidly overnight.
Geez, either wimpy weather, or you got ripped off by Ullr (the Norse God of Skiing & Snow)
teeehee :-()
but a very nice photo series (well, except for that windscreen message)
Mariana, do you remember the ice storm from around '74 or '75? It shut everything down for a week and half that time, we didn't have power.
;-)
I don't really miss the cold weather, but I do sort of miss the snow, all except for the driving in it part that is..
I thought about my Gather friends in Georgia when I saw this on the Weather Channel.
but I don't like snow either.
