Week two of the Photo Scavenger Hunt - Graveyard Edition was Statuary. Since Angela M and me are from the same town, and visit the same cemetary, we end up getting photos of the same stones. I try to find others that fit the theme, but with this one it was impossible because there aren't many statues in Greenlawn. Rather, everyone seemed to favor towering obelisks. At least you'll get to see two different photographer's view of the same subject lol.

"The Call"-- this Angel stands on one of the tallest monuments in the cemetery and waits to blow the trumpet to Judgment Day, as it is written.

My town had quite a few Union soldiers in the Civil War, and this fellow stands over the Soldier's Circle. Someone asked a while back when I posted another photo of him if we had any Confederate monuments, and thus far I haven't found any. I'll have to check with my professors to see if they know of any Confederate monuments in the area.

I posted this one a couple of weeks ago, but since statues are scarce in Greenlawn here it is again lol. I find it very sad that someone would deface a tomb. There has to be a special spot in the worst possible afterlife for people who do this.

This is my absolute favorite cemetery picture, I did a focal black and white leaving just the flowers in her hand in color. The snow makes it even more sad I think.

"Waiting" She looks off into the West, watching the sunset as if she is waiting for someone or something.

I call this one my Lady of Perpetual Shadows. Every picture I try to get a picture of her, it comes out very very very dark. I had to tinker with this in photoshop to make it visable, thats why the quality isn't A+. I'm not that good with photoshop yet lol.

This is one of the shadow pictures. Even at high noon she stays shadowed. This is thanks to the ginormous oak tree that is to her right. As you can see most of that section is shrouded from light while the rest is bright and sunny.
I am planning on exploring two more local cemeteries in the near future, so I may have a second Week two essay to post after I make my visit. One is the oldest cemetery in my county (I thought Greenlawn was until I started researching) that has some Revolutionary War Solider's monuments and the other is the Old Wheelersburg Cemetery. Hopefully both turn up some more statues.
