I have been feeling a bit down in the dumps and very unmotivated and even a tiny bit depressed (which if you knew me in real life you would know is very rare) for the past couple days or a week.
Anyway, I thought I would just ask my friends on gather for their thoughts and prayers and whatever else...You know, what better way to get over what ever it is that is bringing me down than having fun on gather.
I thank you all in advance for anything you choose to say. Thank you!

You are one fortunate and blessed man that many persons whom you may not even know look up to and admire. Better than that, your children look up to and admire you. Your wife adores you and she is hot! Put a bounce in that step of yours and start singing to the world, It rocks to be me!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!! =D
Maybe you've got a case of SAD. Seasonal Affective Disorder. Some people get the blues in winter when the daylight is shorter and the sun doesn't shine very much. Heck, seems like it never shines anymore here in Wisconsin. It just snows every day!
I'd say maybe you just need some chocolate. That works for women but I'm not so sure it works to cheer men up. How about a beer and a pizza? :o)
Patricia, I think you are also right, In am in West Michigan and it seems that alls it does is snow. It can be a bit depressing, especially because I work 2nd shift so I rarely see the sun even when it does come out. Oh well, spring is coming!!!!
And Bert/patricia... YOu may be on to something Beer and Pizza AND Tin Roof ice cream!!!!! ***Off topic, but I just finished some good beer that I made (I do a Very small home brew, and it turned out very well!)
Also, to whoever mentioned getting enough sleep... HA HA HA. I work 2nd shift and don't get home until about 1AM, my wonderful kids wake me up at about 7 AM...ANd those are best case times. ***Luckly I can "gather" while at work, or on my laptop at home!!
So anyway, thanks again...I am feeling better already!

But Spring is on its way. Sorda :)
You could also just spend more time on gather and let us cheer you up with pics and articles...
Tomorrow is a lovely day.
Come, and feast your tear-dimmed eyes
on Tomorrow's clear blue skies!
Even those of us who are well blessed will have times like these. You are human. It is winter. There's a bit of a let down after the holidays. You've got all those evaluations to do. The bustle of the holidays always sets us back in catching up with all those things we had to put on hold. It's overwhelming. You don't have to apologize. It's understandable. It's a time when you just need to give yourself a little slack ... and maybe give and get a little extra tender loving care. Give that gorgeous wife of yours a kiss and let her give you a big hug.
Sending light and comfort your way...
thank you for your comment on my pictures.
Have a happy gather day!!!
There are a variety of things can help with depression: home-made remedies, therapy, and prescription medication, for starters. If you've been feeling this way for more than two weeks, you definitely should speak with your doctor. You also might want to take a depression screening test and bring the results of it to your doctor when you go to speak with him/her.
Hang in there!
I think it's January that does it - too long to spring, promises waiting to be fulfilled, and the nights are still too dark even though the season's changing.
Praying for you.
So remember, the sun will start shining soon.
By the way. You commented on my site about Sal & Sally (The little fish). I approved your comment for posting, but something happened as it didn't get posted. I hope I didn't punch the wrong button.
God has given me pleasure in these things. I don't know why, but I thank him for it. I just hope it helps to let people know he is really there if you need him.
Hope you get to feeling yourself again soon.
Your Friend
Jay
trust me, there's nothing good there, or I'd have stayed....

One of my best friends is dying from cancer. I spent the day with her yesterday. I am really depressed today.
Think about all the positives in your life. Think about the good times you've had. I'm sure your mood will pass soon. Hang in there!
Just look at all these comments you've received over those few words you've use to express that feeling. It appears that you are not alone in your grievance. We've all walked in your shoes on this one buddy and anybody out there who claims they haven't is not being honest.
Though gloom may vary in degree form individual to individual, from time to time, it is in fact, there trying to find a place to fit in our lives.
Do you see that each of these folks took time out to read and understand then leave you with a comment of inspiration or at least empathy; should alone be enough to lift your spirits!
There are always going to be factors to consider as to why we get "DUMPY" at times but ultimately it is up to each of us to chose our course and make the wise decision to escape from it. The choice is always going to be up to you...blame can only make it worse. Your free will allows the choice to lay down or get up.
As you can see, there are some caring people here with good advice, and here's mine:
TAKE CARE OF YOURSELF, (MIND, SOUL & BODY). As for me...How do I stay strong and fit? The Joy of the Lord is MY strength!
Keep all of these. Reread them again as reminders until you are strong and back to your best you; The Micheal you are really meant to be!
Don't hang around, and let your problems surround you,
There are movie shows
Downtown
Maybe you know some little places to go to
Where they never close
Downtown
:)
if it does not go away in another week or so, you might want to see
a doctor.... depression is a very real problem for millions of us...
God bless you...
I am feeling much better, though still not 100% normal, but no big deal for now. I have finished my annual reviews (though they still have to go to my manager, his manager, HR then back to me so I can meet with each employee before I am actually done) but the writing part is done so that is a weight off my sholders.
I have been having fun on Gather, reading all of your encouraging words. I went to craigs cruisers for a birthday party and went on the go-carts (indoor of course) with my 8 year old aginst my wife with our 3 year old...Sadly she won, but it was REALLY fun anyway.
I must say you guys and gals helped a lot, gave a lot of great suggestions (church/exercise are the two big ones I need to focus on more)
I have no doubt I will be right as rain in no time!
Hope things are better for you of late Michael L. I really appreciate all of your kind comments on my photos and such here on Gather.
Until again...
And for music - "Oh Happy Day" and Louis Armstrong's" What a Wonderful World."
Take care, my friend.
It's normal for anyone to go through a period of the blues - especially if we live in cloudy, dreary, cold Michigan. Here's the good news - as of December 21, the days started to get longer. They will continue to get longer until the longest day of the year, June 21. And let's HOPE it's warmer by then.'
Also, working 2nd shift is very tough on a person. It probably just adds to your blues because you can't get enough sleep. Been there, done that with my husband when the kids were little. So, chin up and press on. Life is beautiful when we take off the blinders of depression. (Been there too) Have faith!
