This is a poem I wrote after the death of a loved one. I saw/sensed his image on the other side of a window and these words came to me:
I see you through a window in my mind,
A vision so bright and sublime,
Though you're gone our love is still alive,
A promise, a belief that survives all time.
When I wonder where your spirit has flown,
I hear your voice in the soft summer rain,
A whisper, a shadow guiding me home,
Pulling me, touching me, calling my name.
You are in a window between dark and dawn,
And I know without you my life is in vain,
And I will be with you before too long,
Holding you, loving you, releasing my pain.
Sometimes I wonder why I was left behind,
And why I struggle to succeed and shine,
It seems so useless at the end of the day,
For you I go on, your memory and mine.
Someday when I travel through that window,
We will look back at the lives we've sown,
And take another journey as strangers,
Loving again, fresh and new, a love forever known.
