Using the following five required ingredients:
1 cup brown rice
6 oz. fresh spinach
1 lb. pork sausage
1/2 cup heavy cream
I came up with this great cold weather soup, ideal for the slow cooker.
You also get to use water, salt and pepper, oil and up to three other ingredients. Mine were: 1 onion (chopped), 1 large can beef broth, 2 stalks celery (chopped).
Brown sausage. Stir in onion, celery and a pinch of cumin; cook another 5-10 minutes. Add mixture, with broth, to a slow cooker. Cook 3 hours. Add rice and cook another hour or two, or til rice is tender.
Just before serving, stir in cream and spinach. Add salt and pepper to taste.
