The library computers don't like to gather!

I have been having to get online at the library and for some reason the library computers will not let me go to gather all the time. Some kind of content filter blocks the site.

This I find totally ironic because it will let me go to myspace ..

I convinced a friend to sign up with Gather and she has never been able to comment from her home computer. Her server will not connect with Gather. She can only get on when she uses a different computer. That is so strange the library will access myspace and not Gather!

that sucks.......and with my dial up at home, gather takes FOREVER to load, (thank god for work!!)

Check all the computers to see if they all do that. Some are probably set up for kids/teenagers with blockers for them. There should be others that will let you access just about anything.
Sometimes my home computer won't let me in here-weird!!

Did you try signing on again, not sure why, I think they want to do away with chit chat and I don't think I should say the rest of what I think. They want us to talk of valuable content so they can make big bucks for close to free. Not very happy either. I thought this was a friends site and not point mandatory, oh well.

I very much doubt that it is anything to do with Gather blocking anyone ... it is far more likely to be a problem at the library end, JoAnne

Yeah .. the guy working at the library says sometimes the filters block out sites they think could be 'threatening' .. LOL .. gather threatening.. ha

Oh, no. I sure didn't want to hear this. The library is that far from us and I always thought if this one crashes I'd use the library. In fact, not too many days ago I suggested the library to someone. Oh, this is not good.

You can use the computers free at the Hispanic Tech Center and there is no time limit on them. If you can't get to Gather from their computers, ask Orlando to help you.

I have no problem getting on Gather at my public library. Maybe it is a filtering issue. Ask a librarian.

That's strange. Myspace has far worse content than Gather. So odd.

Computers do strange things. While I was in Florida I went online a couple of times to try to find interesting malls in the area. One computer would not let me access lists of stores at various malls because some of the stores sold lingerie... duh!! At a mall...
