Never Forget to Feed Me

This is another true poem.  I gave this one to my grandparents for Christmas a few years ago.

On a cold, blustery day
you picked me up from school
Mom had promised me a Big Mac
and I was hungry as a mule
But instead of McDonalds
I got cold ham and cheese
I was not at all happy
and told mom it would not appease
To add fuel to the flames
she'd brought nothing to drink
hungry and now thirsty
my mood continued to sink
On the ride to Des Moines
Grandpa was almost silent
No doubt it was in fear
of me getting violent
I fussed and I fumed
nearly all the way there
I was more ticked off
than an old grizzly bear
We made it to my appointment
and that went just swell
but when we came back out
things really went to hell
We went to get in the car
but the car wasn't there
Grandma and I both
loudly began to swear
All over the parking lot
we searched for the car
Where the hell did he go?
He surely couldn't have gone far
All of us were freezing
and mom started to chuckle
Grandma and I were not amused
I was ready to show her my knuckles
By the time we found Grandpa
we had icicles on our face
Grandpa's excuse for his actions?
He'd found a better parking space!
I was outraged
they could plainly see
They quickly decided
they had better feed me
Off to Pizza Hut
to get me some food
and let me tell you what
it sure put me in a better mood
Grandpa finally spoke up
I no longer wanted to flip my lid
"I believe when we feed you
you're an entirely different kid!"

Heather this is a great poem... you are very talented!!! I too know what you mean about being hungry and having your heart set on something special and then only to get something not so special. BTW, Big Macs are one of my favorites foods, there are time I literally crave them....once I get one then I am ok for couple months, then it heats me again!! I think that all of us have that problem. I know that I get grumpy if I get hungry. Cute poem. I always admire people who can make poems about everyday things.
