Faye Buis-Ewing, 72 was being used as an example of the type of person who would be effected by voter ID was a good example. But for the wrong side as it turns out that she's registered to vote in two different states.

Now she does say that she never votes in Florida but that doesn't mean that others will be as honest as she was. Having an photo ID doesn't stop anyone from voting and the only ones I see possibly disenfranchised are those that want to vote in more than one state.

With ID theft rampant maybe we need more security available to protect us from identity thieves and can help reduce the monies stolen as well as prevent other fraud as well.

I have to agree with Juan on this one. We cant keep people out of this country illegally and we are worried about ID's? Worry about the borders then work on some way that doesn't affect my rights or further take away my liberities.

Yes Juan it does a little but things are different now also. If the ID is used to track what and where you go I would have some issue with it. To be used to protect I am a little more lenient. Too many people are having to spend years and thousands to restore their name and credit. with the internet it's so much easier to get caught and have their lives come crashing down around them.

They have tiny tracers they can inject in us now. That would be the best I.D.

Just because they say that Nat. ID's won't be used to track anybody doesn't mean that it will always be that way. When Social Security numbers were introduced, concerned parties were assured that the numbers would never be used for anything other than the SSA. Try to get a loan without giving your SS# now. Or register for college. Or get a credit card. I'm sure there's some I'm leaving out. It's the first step, and if it is allowed to be taken, the scary stuff will follow. All in the name of "protecting law abiding citizens."

Tim, that sounds so plausible . Once these National IDs are created, I can actually see someone being turned away from being able to do such simple things as rent a video, get a rental car or hotel room without one. You will become a non person without one. 1984 doesn't sound so far fetch now does it.

This National ID will be used to keeps tabs on us all. The government willbe able to see what you read at the public library, what you movies you see at the local video place, what places you shop at, ID required to use your CC, what places you frequent, ID required to purchase beer at the local bar. There are no bounds once the flood gates are opened.
