AS YOU PROBABLY NOTICED

I HAVEN'T BEEN ENTERTAINING YOU WITH MY NIGHTLY "MYSTERY CELEBRITY CHALLENGE'S"

THAT'S BECAUSE I RECIEVED THE INEVITABLE PHONE CALL LAST SATURDAY MORNING.

 

9:00 AM

SATURDAY, JAN 5TH

 

MY CELL PHONE RING'S...IT'S MY SISTER, PRONOUNCES MY NAME WITH AN ENDING SNIFFLE,

 MY HEART SKIPPED A BEAT...AND MY EYE'S WATERED

I IMMEDIATLY KNEW WHAT HAD HAPPEN...

 

MY DAD HAD PASSED AWAY IN SICILY

HE SUFFERED FROM ALZHEIMERS AND OTHER COMPLICATIONS FOR ABOUT 4 YEARS  MY MOM WAS HIS CAREGIVER 24/7

WITH LOVE AND COMPASSION SHE DEVOTED ALL HER TIME TO HER LIFETIME COMPANION

TECHINICALLY IT MARKED 65 YEARS OF BEING TOGETHER...

SPRITUALLY HE STILL LIVES ON...

WITH NO ESITATION I JUMPED ON A PLANE 3 HOURS LATER HEADED FOR MY HOME TOWN IN SICILY, I WAS LUCKY TO FIND A COMBINATION OF FLIGHTS THAT GOT ME THERE ON TIME FOR THE FUNERAL.

AS MUCH AS IT WAS PAINFULL...THERE... LYED A SENSE OF RELIEF FOR MY MOM AT 73 HAD GIVING ALL HER LOVE, STRENGTH AND TIME TO OUR WONDERFUL FAMILY MAN,

NOW SHE CONTINUES HER LIFE WITH A SENSE OF LOSE IN HER HEART.

THANK GOD SHE IS STRONG... AND LIVE'S WITH MY SISTER HER HUSBAND AND THEIR LITTLE 18 MONTH OLD BOY "LUCA" WHICH SUBSTITUTES HER PAIN WITH JOY...!

MY DAD WAS 82

I THANK HIM FOR GIVING ME PLENTY OF LOVE, RESPONSABILITY AND CREATIVITY...!

AND MADE ME THE MAN I AM.

 

GOD BLESS YOU...DAD.

 

MY LAST DINNER AT MY MOM'S WAS "PASTA CA SICCIA" (CUTTLE FISH PASTA WITH BLACK INK SAUCE) COMMEMORATING MY DAD.

We missed you ..and as time passed and no Marco..a worry ..but then an awareness and wondering that perhaps some tragedy..and so sorry that is so...

Oh,Marco,I am sending you my sincerest sympathies and prayers in the loss of your father. He was a wonderful man,I'm sure,judging by the very talented,warm and humorous qualities exhibited by his son.
You know that those we hold deepest and closest to our hearts never leave us..they live always in our hearts,our minds,our children's faces.
I understand your grief and pray that the pain you and family experience is tempered by all the beautiful memories that you hold of your dear daddy.
Your momma is blessed to have her family around her...what a courageous lady.

I am so sorry for your loss Marco. I know that it will be difficult for your Mom to be seperated from you father but know that one day soon the lord will bless her and she will be released of her pain and sense of loss. Your father has gone now to a better place and will now be in peace and away from any and all suffering.

Marco, I knew there must have been something to have taken you away so suddenly and I thought perhaps you were sick, and so sad you lost your dad, but he is in a better place, and now your Mom will be able to be free too, because caregiving is a hard job, especially with that illness, and she is with her children and her grandchild so that will help her, and from someone that lost a mate to illness after a long marriage, I have to tell you, you sometimes feel a sense of relief for them, as well as your loss. It will take her time, but she will be all right, and she has a wonderful son in you and your dad must have been special to have taught you so well. I am so glad you are all right Marco, sad for your loss, but look forward to seeing you again as soon as you feel up to it. Take care of yourself, you are a good son.

Marco, hi.

We don't know each other, but I want to express my condolences to you and your family. I had pretty much the same kind of experience with my father. He passed away two years ago after having suffered with Alzheimer's for several years. My heart goes out to you.

Having seen the father you are Marco, and the husband thru your videos, I cry to think of your pain, and your protective instinct you must now have for your Mother. I understand twice her pain and loss. I was caregiver for my mother for eleven years. I know she will miss her husband, and the man she devoted her life to, had a beautiful long, loving marriage, that produced her family. Together. Wth the dedication to her husband, and my mother suffered this painful disease also, I can only imagine the amount of love in your family. It is a joy to know it exsists in the world today. They have passed it on, and if there could be a living tribute to such a loving couple, it is there son, who also touches us here on Gather all the time. I am sorry you have lost your father, but in my heart I feel that his pain is over, and it is God's plan for your mother to now rest, and give her familiy, what is evident thru you, full time the love that they represented. Thank you for sharing with us, and from me, you know I will pray, that God himself, preserves in all of you what they had, the ability to love with dedication for so long, and the knowledge to pass that on to their son. My condolences to you, and I will pray that your pain gives way to knowing your Father is also now resting peacefully, and with the angels watching his family from above. God has his hand in your lives, all your connections were spot on, Marco to get to your family. So you could be there, and I am sure He will keep His loving Hand in there, If you need anything, anyone of us, would be honored. God bless you and your family Marco, and I will have a Mass said in honor of your Father's life, and His time he gave to all of you., He is gone in the physical sense, but he is here Marco, in all of his family. So sorry for the loss of your father. mine died 20 years ago at 72. I feel that with Alzheimer's patients they have already left thier bodies in mind and now his whole spirit can enter the beyond.

As all said your father has taught you well, you are a good man, very well mannered and a great father for I know you son is with you for support and love. Marco, I'm so sorry to hear about this. I'm glad you were able to get there in time for the funeral. In a lot of ways since he had alzheimers you've been losing him for a long while.
I hope memories of who he was and all he said to you and did with you will come to you and fill you with light as you remember the special dad he was to you. It is hard to lose a parent. My mom died several years ago and I still miss her tremendously. My dad is still doing fine and I hope he continues to for a long time.
