The Surf Was Up Today

I was on my usual walk today, but when I got down to the Green Bridge I heard noise ocean-ward, and when I looked over there I saw that the surf was up. LOL!!! That decided the rest of my hike - I headed over to the Cliff Walk and Ochre Point, where I knew the best surfers would be.

It wasn't huge surf, not like the 8 - 10 ft. waves featured in my surfing video, but these were up to 6 ft. and the gang looked to be having fun. Winter is the best surfing season in Newport because of the ruckus the winter storms set up. That's why most of the surfing shots you'll see from me feature wetsuits on the surfers. LOL!!! That water is cold!!!!

Hardy souls! I can't imagine doing that in such frigid waters. I was amazed to find the ocean there often too cold for me in the summer, much less in the winter!

I love pictures of surfers, mostly because you can better tell how big the waves are by the size of the humans. Great pictures. I will definately have to travel to Newport when I get a chance and when the forecast calls for big waves.
